Hello fellows,
I was interviewed by a university's professor for PhD program last week. I did not do that well, I was unable to explain my own research and forgot to mention him the name of the professor I wanted work with. Rest, I ensured him my deligence, importance for graduate degree and my interest. How often do I need to communicate with him to ensure my admittance to the University. If you guys could enlighten me with your experience and knowledge for future interviews I would be obliged.
Thank you
Y

Well the prof should have given you a time frame by which he would contact you again. Your inability to explain your research might not slice the chances of your selection if your dicipline requires less of public interactions example chemistry, mathematics etc. I think it would be good to inquire him about the position if you did not hear back from him within 10 days. You might be the first candidate he had interviewed and he might be waiting to interview more before he makes the final decision. If your position was an advertised position the prof might have received plenty of qualified applications and wanted to interview several. While, if you have applied for regular admission and you have been interviewed your chances are pretty high. I have been in several selection committees and usually not more than 3 are interviewed in the latter case. Good luck.

Well Phd is an attainment of state where your mind should be boggling with intense curiosity - why some things happen and why other things do not? If you do no engage in research works after Phd (whatever your subject of interest be) then you have committed two sins: (1) you have consumed valuable resources (time/money and so forth) which someone else could have benefitted from, and (2) you did not understand why people want such a state of attainment possibily because you are the victim of status quo.
Phd is a process of learning and not just plain and incremental learning. The process of learning never ends and Phd gives you that ability to put the learning in context from which human societies can benefit (here societies and benefits both are subjective).

Intellectual_suicide Bro,
On a lighter note, this could be a reason why purana kaagaz holds such opinion.

My research was based on Flies. All i did for 3 years was to watch those flies mate and see how many males and females they give birth. Count those flies, watch them have sex and all that bullshit.
That's why i am saying it was a waste of time, at least for me.
At the end what did i learn ? Nothing. I knew about flies having sex when i was a Kid. In fact i knew more when i was a kid. I could tell whether it was a male or female just by looking at it.

purana_kagaz belongs in a trash not in public domain. WTF is watching flies having sex and getting a PhD crap about? Who are you trying to fool? If you didn't have any interest in genetics, why the [Disallowed String for - bad word] did you even bother with grad school? But given your sheer stupidity, this whole 'been there, done that' attitude about PhD sounds fishy. Why did I even bother replying to a dumbass!

So you just opened your sajha account to reply me ? That's fishy to me.
Yes i wasn't really interested in any Genetics or Biology but i had to do it. Even my Professor says all the time "If you want to be professor then do PHD otherwise it is a waste of time" . I repeat that "PHD in bio is waste of time".
It's easy to bark behind the bars. Opening a new sajha account to post some filthy words is not the best idea.

You had to do it! Did your professor gag you in the throat? Is that why? PhD and you don't go together. If you have guts, show some degree or point to your thesis. Let's see how one gets PhD watching flies have sex unless you obtained your PhD in some [Disallowed String for - bad word]ed up university that no one cares about. And even by your own admissions, one can be a Professor with PhD, although the professors you talked to are apparently as stupid as you (it's a matter of inheritance in your program I guess, or is that too genetics heavy for your brain without grey cells?) for claiming things that are simply untrue, then why and how the [Disallowed String for - bad word] is PhD a waste of time? Your parents surely wasted their time, you [Disallowed String for - bad word]ing scum of the earth. Sajha truly is becoming a haven for brain dead.

Looks like my words hurt you real bad. Also, it looks like you did PHD in genetics or similar field and my saying "Phd is waste of time hit your nervers" because of your unsuccessful career.. Show me a proof of your degree, will you ?
I wish i could help you but i can't . Sorry.

I need help? Get your brain scanned to confirmed negative result, for grey matter that is. Look at the [Disallowed String for - bad word]ing guts! Someone is asking for help with PhD admissions and you spend your time to write doing PhD is a waste of time because you didn't like it? Such sweeping generalizations are typical of those who have brainfarts on a regular basis. The Worst Fertilized Egg prize on Sajha for the week goes to: purana_kagaz (that was deemed unfit for recycling!) Grow up dumbass. I'm not spending another post on shit[Disallowed String for - bad word]s like you. Lick your own cunt now.
