If you are still a student, why do you have to renew anyway? Its DoS = Duration of Study...unless it was for Graduate studies, and had a 2-3 yr Visa.....Typical F-1 Visas don't need renewal as long as your status remains a student !

Remember these 4 points: 0. Visa is just a valid document for travel upto Port-of-Entry. Neither it guarantee entry to the US nor it defines your duration of stay in the US. 1. US visa cannot be renewed inside the US 2. Visa renewal in isn't necessary if you aren't travelling outside the US 3. If your visa has expired and you need to travel outside the US, then you must get new Visa form the consulate in the you are visiting. For F1, your legal Duration of Stay (DoS) is defined by the expiration date of your I-20.

Tell your international student adviser or whoever takes care of these things to fedex it to you. It's merely a question of minutes to renew an I-20, if you are a continuing student that is. You need an I-20 for travel back and forth between Nepal and US. So, you should either renew it right before leaving the US OR make sure your adviser knows about your plan to have the I-20 mailed to you. good luck

Sorry, I misread the question to think you meant I-20s instead of visas. Ignore the post above!

when nepali student gets f1 visa, some will get1year, some will get 2,3,4,5 years(depending upon consulars mood). if you are inside US and not travelling out, then don't worry even when your visa got (remember not passport, you must renew your passport) expired bcz it is labelled as Duration of Status (DS). 1. if you are going to nepal within your visa period, no need to worry about. you need to take new I20 from your college. Contact your international advisor. 2. if you are going after visa expired, then you have to do everthing same as you did when you first applied. i don't know any nepali in this situation but i know student from china and sri lanka, they went back to their country during their school (they were not graduated yet and were at middle) and got visa denied. they had everything (like apt, car, college etc etc) here in US. Contact your Int Advisor for more suggestions. I would suggest, if your visa is expired, then don't go to nepal (until unless you need to be there) until you have H1 or GC. Good luck man.
