With the UNESCO stand drawing criticism from the rest of the world, is this a premotion of where the world is headed?

What if China steps in and agrees to fulfil US's share of donations to UNESCO and ultimately the UN?

Can US stand to ignore the international sentiments and try to fulfil the wishes of the lobbyists and the campaign funders based in Israel? How long can they do that without it becoming obvious to the world that they are just bullying other small countries?

What is your take on this?

It is amazing that a tiny country Israel controls and influences Washington in all aspects of american life, liberty, and freedom. So sad! Even more disheartening is that nobody looks into the facts. How can the entire world be supportive of Palestine and be wrong and US on the other side supporting Israel be right. But then this has been going on for decades.

Look at this how the President stalls on such a legitimate question:

General Conference admits Palestine as UNESCO Member State

© UNESCO/Dou Matar
UNESCO’s General Conference today voted to admit Palestine as a Member State of the Organization.
For its membership to take effect*, Palestine must sign and ratify UNESCO’s Constitution which is open for signature in the archives of the Government of the United Kingdom in London.

Palestine’s entry will bring the number of UNESCO’s Member States to 195.

The vote was carried by 107 votes in favour of admission and 14 votes against, with 52 abstentions.

Admission to UNESCO for states that are not members of the United Nations requires a recommendation by the Organization’s Executive Board and a two thirds majority vote in favour by the General Conference of Member States present and voting (abstentions are not considered as votes).

The General Conference consists of the representatives of the States Members of the Organization. It meets every two years, and is attended by Member States and Associate Members, together with observers for non-Member States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Each Member State has one vote, irrespective of its size or the extent of its contribution to the budget.

The General Conference determines the policies and the main lines of work of the Organization. Its duty is to set the programmes and the budget of UNESCO. It also elects the Members of the Executive Board and appoints, every four years, the Director-General.

wow 107 votes in favour of admission and 14 votes against and yet Americ, which stands for democracy does not support it. I guess America only stands for the so called democracy within their own country and not internationally.

Wow. Tough question. Poor Obama. On the spot. The crowd upon him. He knows his every word would be dissected and ripped apart.
It is interesting that he first defends Israel. And almost as a second thought, he says, 'yes, we also need to defend the Palestinians.'
The Jewish lobby is a powerful force in the United States. And any politician on the wrong side would get clobbered by them.
