I am surprised to see so many people posting against TPS.

In my opinion, hatemongers will be hatemongers. Personally I signed this petition because it will be of help to some Nepalis. It takes a minute to do this. It does not benefit me in anyway since I am US citizen already but if one minute of my time can potentially help someone then why not? I feel sorry for the mental state of the naysayers. They must have some serious psychological disorders that does not allow them to see the progress of other Nepalis.

Many Nepalis have the constricted ideology that if they cannot make any progress in life then they will try to pull others down so that they won't feel like failures. If everyone else is a failure then they feel better about it. If they have made it to a better position than others then they don't want to lose that position in society so they will not help others because they feel like their position on society will become less if others make progress.

I think it has to do with the inherent class discrimination which you are born into in Nepal. You have to be on top of the class and social chain if you are to get some respect. If others make it to the same financial level as you then you lose your position to look down upon them. I think it is also encouraged by the habit of chamchagiri. People do so much chamchagiri to people with money and power that they don't want to lose that reverence at any cost.

I think that's the reason for all these negativity towards TPS. There people are good at hiding their true intentions by sugar coating it as insensitive during this time because Nepalis are suffering in Nepal. They just don't want to see anyone making progress or they feel jealous because someone will get the legal status that took them a lot of effort. Nepali people need to learn to live and let live.

I would not be surprised if one of them rears their ugly head and tells me you are not a Nepali anymore so you don't have any right to judge.

And to that I say "LOL".

Yes, that's what I've been saying too. I came here as a student , now working here legally but have not made green card yet. But I am not signing and hoping for this Bill that I can make my paper too with it, as it does not lead there. I am just hoping for this Bill so that several Nepali can get relief from it. I do not have any problem with that. Now some stupids are calling me undocumented, illegals bla bla and shit. And these kind of people talks about why Nepal is still behind and they are ashamed of being Nepali!!! YOU PEOPLE should ask yourself WHY? before blaming and keep continue on pulling legs of others.

Prognosis: 3% chance being enacted.

We nepalese are emotional. We think from our heart not from brain.

Regardless of how much noise we make on forums or streets, tps is something we will never be granted. I understand someone wrote the bill, doesnt mean it will be granted.

They are however expediting already pending immigration cases which I think is still a good news.

- not a single Nepalese living in Nepal would get benefit out of it.
- it's just mostly shallow Nepalese living in the US, capitalizing the current devastation that took place back home for their own gain. Why can't they simply support those sufferers financially? And here I see morons carrying playcards demanding 'TPS for Nepal'. This again, I must admit, doesn't connect well to me.

Note: I read and don't remember who the fck was that, wrote somewhere that there are other ways to get immigrant status changed, well go and grab that route.

THANK YOU AMERICA(for their aid in Nepal) bhanera euta NOTE bokera rally garna sakdaina.. daamna haru.. khali maagya chan, maagya..

That is not true at all. You are being absolutely narrow minded. There are hundreds of families who are separated because their dad, their brother, their son is in the US without papers. Husbands and wives are separated. Children and parents are separated. These families would benefit greatly by being able to be united again. There is nothing wrong with giving them that possibility. Illegal workers who have to settle for minimal paying jobs can now get better jobs and better pay which means they can send home more money. So their families in Nepal will benefit from it. Just because of your worthless sense of righteousness, you are denying that they deserve a chance.

Your point is incorrect nonetheless.

You have no way of knowing that these people have not supported the earthquake relief operations to the best of their financial ability. Stop making up things to demonize your own Nepali people. The people who have given for earthquake relief includes all Nepalis regardless of the fact that they could benefit from TPS or not.

Your point is incorrect here as well. You are assuming they are not supporting the people suffering financially.

So get a clue before you start making ignorant claims.

I totally agree with the emotions that you carry. Nobody likes to live in separation. Everyone would like to get better job and be fairly treated. And I'm in no way supporting the concept that families live in pain and agony of separation. But the kind of demand we're making at the moment is similar to the demand of families of prisoners making in Nepal. In another words, they're capitalizing the current earthquakes that happened in Nepal. Like someone said, there are other ways to get their immigration status fixed. Why the heck do they have to shine right at this time of sadness with their selfish motives when people are dying out there? Illegals are those who disobeyed the immigration commitment with the US and brought that misfortune to themselves. I also agree they didn't have any choice given our country has nothing much left as incentives to return back and do something. Bad politics and stinky whole system don't want anyone to go back there. I don't blame illegals. But they kind of mutually agreed to their conscience that they'd better off be here than in Nepal regardless of hurdles they'd have to face day to day here. Keep supporting democrats, there are other ways, you could actually be granted legal status pretty soon. I've seen that happen to mexican families, whose dad spent his entire life without any papers but their kids were US born citizens. Obama has plan for them and may be for you too, who knows to keep families united.

By the way, righteousness is relative. If a serial killer kills someone,  he committed it because he thought it's right. But for us normal beings, it's a bad thing. We do things that we think is right. Am not here to show off any of those unrelated notion which has no meaning to me. It's just a simple fcking logic. I saw the news feed, ppl dying. And then I saw another feed right underneath these fcking clowns carrying TPS playcard demanding TPS. I was mad when I saw that. And then I saw another feed, where ppl were holding boards asking for Help and donations. That helped me bit to settle down. But everything has a perfect timing. You don't go and have sex with your wife when your grandfather dies or do you? Probably you would.

And yes, am not making ignorant claims. I've never written they're not supporting ppl back home financially. All I have written is stop being clowns carrying posters 'We want TPS or TPS for Nepal' and just go help ppl financially like they're doing if they're doing.

I do not understand why you have a problem with that if something good could come out of the tragedy in Nepal.

During hurricane Catrina, the government of US distributed food and other material to the people affected by the hurricane. Among the ones receiving relief, there were some homeless people who did not have any homes to begin with. Would you want to take away the food from their plates? They are the ones who are suffering and if the hurricane gives them benefit of food then why do you need to take a higher ground?

The ones who would benefit from TPS are also suffering from their own pain. They are human beings too and if the US has provisions of granting something like TPS which they have done in the past then it provides the suffering with some hope. Don't try to take the higher ground and diminish their pain of being separated from their family. I hope you never get separated from your family.

It's already about to be a month after that Major earthquake hit us on April 25th. Petition for TPS submitted same day. As per Wikipedia, based on 2011 consensus Nepalese population living in the US is 300,490. Petition is far short of 100k signatures. As of now, only 10,842 signed the petition.

Similar TPS petition was submitted in the past by the people of disaster stricken countries (Philippines, Guatemala, etc), but they were never granted. Same fate is upon us.

We should stop thinking about TPS now, it's just a waste of time.

If you stop talking about it then its fine and good. But if you villify and ridicule the suffering of anyone then it only shows what kind of lowly human being you are.
