its my second year of being out of status and from the first year i am trying my best to get it back .....i tried everything thats possible .... one of my friend got an i 20 from a college and went to Mexico and he got his status back while returning from there.... i am thinking of  doing the same from last fall but i am in NY and i applied 2 times to the LGA community college for the i 20 but they are not accepting me ..... please help me guys give me some suggestions ......i would really appreciate it

Dude, it's hard to get reinstated,better not apply since it's been 2 yrs as u said. U're supposed to apply within 3 months after u got out of status. Getting an I 20 from a college and going to Mexico, Canada or abroad is an option but u might be stopped at the border or port of entry and denied entry.(depends why u got out of status and gotta have a reasonable documented proof.) If there is any chance of going back to the old school and talking to the DSO (International advisor), u can do that.(That's if u had never applied for reinstatement). What they do is, until u apply, the DSO has ur SEVIS listed as reinstatement pending and in one click they can clear it out). This happened to me after more than a year of being out of status. I went back to the school and graduated. Since u never went to school after u got out of status, there is less chances ( I never left school, though I was out of status.) But still talking with ur DSO is not a big deal, do it, might help u.

thanks a lot man i really appreciate it..... the thing is i joined an english language center to maintain my status i continued going there for like 4 months and after that i was not able to do it coz the classes were in early morning and i use to work late night...... i missed the classes for 1month and then i dint went at all .... after 2 months i thought of going back to the classes but i was scared of they deporting me or telling me some bad things.... so i think of calling them and they told me that i m out of status and the only way to get it back is going back to my country or  talking with the homeland security .... so what do you think i have todo.... do i have to talk with the advisor of the language institute again or back to the advisor of my old university?? my friend and his wife they went to mexico his wife was out of status coz they had a baby and as he told me that its really easy from mexican side coz they dont ask you anything
and how could you become out of status since you said that you never left school?? please reply me
