काभ्रे -कास)- छिमेकीबीचको विवाद मिलाउन गएका वाईसीएलले वृद्ध दम्पतीलाई कुटपिट गरेका छन् ।

सल्ले भुम्लु गाविस-२ का ५४ वषर्ीय रामबहादुर तामाङ र उनकी पत्नी देवमायालाई उनीहरूले पा“च दिनअघि घरमै कुटपिट गरेका हुन् । कुटपिटविरुद्ध रामबहादुरले जिल्ला प्रहरीमा आइतबार उजुरी दिएका छन् । दाजु चन्द्रबहादुरस“ग अपुताली जग्गामा मकै र्छर्ने विषयमा विवाद भएपछि वाईसीएलले वैशाख ३१ गते रामबहादुर र पत्नी देवमायालाई कुटपिट गरेका थिए । कुटपिटबारे छलफल गर्न स“गै धुलिखेल आइपुगेका चन्द्रबहादुरलाई प्रहरीले हिरासतमा राखेको छ ।

रामबहादुरका छोरी रोश्नीले देवमायालाई काठमाडौंको लाइफ केयर अस्पतालमा तीन दिन उपचार गराएको बताइन् । 'जीउभरि घाउचोट लागेको थियो, अहिले पनि राम्ररी ठीक भइसकेको छैन,' रोश्नीले भनिन् । आफू स्याउला काट्न गएका बेला वाईसीएलले घरमा बोलाएर कुटपिट गरेको रामबहादुरले बताए । 'हामी प्रहरीमै मिल्न जान्छौं भनेपछि कुटपिट गर्न थाले,' उनले भने- 'सबै मिलेर कुटेपछि बेहोसजस्तै भए“छु, क-कसले कुट्यो थाहै भएन ।' उनको धुलिखेलस्थित जनस्वास्थ्य कार्यालयमा उपचार गरिएको थियो ।

गोरखा -कास)- वाईसीएलले कुटेपछि उपचार गर्नसमेत नदिएका एक शिक्षक चार दिनपछि उपचारका लागि सदरमुकाम आएका छन् ।

वाईसीएलले केराबारी गाविसस्थित नेपाने माविका शिक्षक रामेश्वर पोख्रेललाई कुटपिट गरेर पत्रकार र प्रहरीलाई खबर नगर्न धम्की दि“दै गाउ“ छाड्न दिएका थिएनन् । यससम्बन्धी समाचार प्रसारण भएपछि उनी शनिबार राति सदरमुकाम आएका हुन् ।

उनको टाउकामा पा“च टा“का लगाइएको छ । उनलाई बाहिर जान नदिएपछि गाउ“कै मेडिकलमा उपचार गराइएको थियो । 'पत्रकार र प्रहरीलाई भने जागिरबाट निकाल्ने र मारिदिने धम्की दिएपछि तीन दिन स्कुलमै बसें,' पोख्रेलले भने ।

पोख्रेलको टाउको र आ“खामा चोट लागेको छ भने जीउभरि नीलडाम छन् । सदरमुकाम नजिकैको छोप्राक गाविसका शिक्षक पोख्रेल तीन वर्षेखि स्थानीय माविमा पढाउ“दै आएका छन् । नेविसंघका तर्फाट गोरखा क्याम्पसको स्ववियु सभापति भएका उनी निमावि तहका अस्थायी गणित शिक्षक हुन् ।

सुनसरी -कास)- वाईसीएल कार्यकर्ताले सुनसरी चतराका एक व्यापारीसित ३० हजार रुपैया“ माग गर्दै नदिए ज्यान मार्ने धम्की दिएका छन् । चतरा व्यापार समितिका सदस्य सजन रायलाई लिगका कार्यकर्ता शम्भु ढोलीले त्यस्तो धम्की दिएका हुन् ।

'मैले ढोलीसित उल्टै करिब ५ हजार रुपैया“ लिन बा“की थियो,' रायले कान्तिपुरसित भने- 'रकम किन दिनु भन्दा ढोलीले त“लाई देखाइदिन्छु, मार्दिन्छु भने ।' धम्कीपछि चतरा उद्योग वाणिज्य संघको बैठक बसेको छ । बैठकले वाईसीएल कार्यकर्ताको ज्यादतीविरुद्ध निन्दा गरेको छ ।

व्यापारीले धम्कीविरुद्ध चतरा बजारमा पर््रदर्शनसमेत गरेका छन् । रायले ज्यान मार्ने धम्कीविरुद्ध इलाका प्रहरी कार्यालय महेन्द्रनगरमा उजुरी दिएका छन् ।

"NHRC has received complaints and information that YCL has committed inhuman activities like abduction, murder, beating and issuing threats. NHRC expresses serious concern over these activities," NHRC said in a statement on Sunday.

In the statement, the constitutional human rights watchdog has listed 10 complaints it has received in recent days against the Maoist youth wing. They are:

•  Murder of Ram Hari Shrestha after abduction.
•  Seriously beating and injuring UML cadres Ram Singh Rai, Khagendra Kumar Rai, Dedraj Basnet and Kul Bahadur Rai at Kulung Bhojpur. All are being treated at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
•  Destroying the house of Chandra Bahadur Shrestha of Okharpauwa, Nuwakot, accusing him of not casting vote for the Maoists and being active against Maoists. The house was under construction.
•  Beating up and injuring Rameshwor Pokharel, a teacher of Nepane Secondary School in Gorkha for not casting vote for CPN (Maoist).
•  Disrupting drinking water supply by cutting the pipes in Nawalpur-8, Sindhupalchowk, accusing villagers of not voting for Maoists and for not donating money for a road construction project. 
•  Death threats from YCL has forced the five-member family of one Nara Bahadur Gurung to flee their home in Changthapu VDC of Panchthar district. 
•  Mercilessly beating up five brothers of a family at Kaskikot of Kaski district.
•  Manhandling Ram Banjare, the owner of Gulmeli Hotel in Arghakhanchi.
•  Threatening Pratap Singh Tamang of Hokse VDC, Kavre district for voting Nepali Congress.
•  Beating up teachers Krishna Prasad Pathak and Ram Nath Tiwari of Rameshwor Higher Secondary School in Chitwan.

YCL beat couple in Kavre

Giving continuity to their excesses, cadres of YCL beat up Ram Bahadur Tamang and his wife Devmaya of Salle Bhumlu VDC-2 in Kavrepalanchowk,  in the name of settling a dispute with their neighbor five days ago.

The incident came to light after the victims on Sunday lodged a complaint to Dhulikhel police against the YCL cadres.

Tamang had treated his wounds at a public health post at Dhulikhel while his wife was taken to Life Care Hospital in Sundhara, Kathmandu, where she had to stay for three days for treatment.

"YCL cadre Dipak Chaulagain had dragged my mother out and began beating her mercilessly," said Roshni, who took her mother to Kathmandu for treatment. "She also told me that Dipak, Kanchhi and other Maoists had beaten her up before she fell unconscious."

However, the accused YCL cadre Chaulagain maintained that Devmaya was injured after falling off from bed during the incident.

Meanwhile, police arrested Chandra Bahadur, the neighbor, to investigate the incident.

Enmity began between the neighbors after Tamang's wife allegedly beat up Chandra Bahadur over a dispute during maize seed plantation recently.

'आफ्नो संगठनमा आउन दबाब दि“दै आएका थिए,' विज्ञप्तिमा भनिएको छ- 'नगएपछि पेसाबाटै जबर्जस्ती निकालेको घोषणा गरेका हुन् ।' बैतडी प्रशासन र शिक्षालाई उनीहरूले मंगलबार त्यसबारे जानकारी गराएका छन् ।

"The CPN (Maoist) must immediately disband its military organizations and commit itself to democratic principles," said civil society leader Nilambar Acharya.

Speaking at a program organized by Reporters' Club Nepal, Acharya charged that the Maoists haven't yet improved their conduct. "The YCL has continued intimidating and beating up common people and the PLA is involved in murder," he said. "Such organizations should be disbanded to ensure Maoist commitment to democracy."

About the recent murder of Ram Hari Shrestha by the 'PLA', he said the Maoist party must take institutional responsibility for the incident. "It cannot be an incident concerning individuals alone when someone is abducted and murdered inside a 'PLA' cantonment." 'PLA' men on the orders of their commander Kali Bahadur Kham 'Bibidh' abducted Shrestha from Kathmandu, took him to Shaktikhor cantonment in Chitwan, and allegedly killed him in the course of torture. His body, according to 'Bibidh', was later thrown into the Narayani river. 'Bibidh' -- the man behind the crime-- is still at large.

About political developments, Acharya said the parties must proclaim a democratic republic on May 28. "A big festival should be organized at the royal palace following proclamation of the republic and abolition of monarchy," he said.

CPN-UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari said his party won't support the Maoists until and unless the latter behave themselves. "The Maoists can't be trusted while they continue their atrocities across the country," Adhikari said. "The Maoists must immediately disband the YCL and the PLA."

He said the UML hasn't yet decided about joining the next government.

Chairperson of People's Front Nepal Amik Sherchan strongly condemned the killing of Shrestha by the 'PLA'. "It's the most heinous crime. And the Maoists must take responsibility," he said.

Deputy commander of PLA Janardan Sharma 'Prabhakar' said the Maoists will help form a high level commission to investigate the murder. He, however denied the involvement of the PLA in the incident. "Action against those involved will be taken following the investigation," he said.

NC alleges Maoists of killing its cadre in Kalikot

The Maoists have been accused of murdering a Nepali Congress cadre in Khin VDC of Kalikot district.

A press statement issued by the NC on Wednesday said Jaya Lal Bom, a NC cadre of ward no. 3 in Khin VDC, was hacked to death by a Young Communist League (YCL) Cadres on May 16. The YCL men attacked him after he demanded that they return his property seized during the Maoist conflict.

20 other NC supporters in the area have been displaced due to YCL threats, the statement said, adding that the party would launch protest programmes against 'YCL atrocities".

On the other hand, the Maoists have refuted the murder charges.

Reports quoted Khadga Bahadur B.K, a Maoist central leader and member of the Constituent Assembly from Kalikot, as claiming that Maoist cadres were not involved in the killing. nepalnews.com mk May 21 08
