There is no doubt that the present autocratic government led by G has to be overthroen.

I strongly sopport the peaceful movement by seven parties like all democracy loving citizen of Nepal.

However, I am DISGUSTED that seven parties are silent about the latest series of violence caused by Maoist. If they are for peaceful movement, they should not be scared of maoist, they should be clear about their stance against Maoist.

They should condemn it, and warn maoist that such violence means termination of 12 point agenda.

Or they should also join the hands of maoist and go for the armed struggle.

I think this is the double standard from parties. They can not dream of having cake and eat it too. They should be clear and honest about it. They should realize that they can not win at the cost of blood of thousands of security personnel. They (seven parties) would need all these security personnel if they get the power and if maoist did not lay down their arms. or the worst senario-against the foreign intervention. They have to applaud the bravery of security personnel. How will the army have faith on seven parties if they do not condemn the recent series of violence.

what do you guys think?

Please try to keep discussions respectful and democratic

You seem to be more used to the freedom of killing innocent people by supporting terrorism. How come you are talking about democracy now?

People who go on to support terrorism and implicitly approve the killings of innocent men/women are worthy to be detained at Guantanamo Bay and and deserve to be treated like animials, because that is what they are. Even if they are out of the camp, the souls of the dead will haunt them till they are alive. If you want respect, learn to be a human being.

At any rate, I am not being disrespectful or undemocratic even to you ( not that you dont deserve it but simply because I can not stoop that low). I have been far more democratic and respectful to you than your mentors have been to each other.

And please ignore me if you do not want to engage in a meaningful discussion. However, I can not shrug off the responsibility, as a peace and freedom loving individual, to counter the moves of terrorists, in whatever form they may appear.

"u see the maoist representing the poor??????????????? "
--mahakaal

Absolutely speaking, no. But relatively, yes. [Note: you cannot use absolute points of reference in these things. None exists.] In the present context, I think the Maoists represent the poor more than any other Nepali political force does. It is not hard too hard to observe this. I think it would be only a mistake to dismiss them as mere troublemakers. They evidently have a very strong support of the people in the grassroots of remote Nepal... mostly the poor and the oppressed.

I do not see much validity in the theory that the Maoists have been able to grow and sustain only because they use the so called 'terror' (or that they know how to use the poor, like Ashu says). I think that they are a major political force with a significant voluntary mass (most of them poor, disfranchised) behind them, and we need to get out of the denial and accept the facts and try to address the problem. Dismissing them as a few bad guys and their agenda as nonsense and hoping to get rid of them by killing them all (the Nepali administration's apparent current course) will be only counter-productive. This stratgey has never worked anywhere in the world.

Bhoonte-ji,
Thanks, and yes, with due respect, I would rather not engage in discussions with you simply because of the incompatibility in our mode of expression. You have been very presumptuous, and, now apparently you think I have my "mentors" (more assumptions!), to make me deserve your unprovoked offensive aggression. I do not even know who you are talking about. I am a free thinker and will stay this way regardless of your threats and mistreatments. I try to respect everyone's thoughts and take them at their face value. I am sorry that I may not agree with your ideas all the time, but please stop thinking that only you care about Nepal.

Isn't it a little bit hypocritical to claim being democratic and shout aloud to dismiss the voice of millions? What ever media maoist used to make their voice heard, it's their choice. They will get their due return for that. But they represent a political power, a political voice. how can one be democratic who wants this voice is crushed?

After being abusive in language and bulling for a long time, someone doesn't want to stoop so low. Interesting ( ha ha ha ..).

It's a nightmare to expect peace and freedom until you want to dominate the world and their ideaologies.

Bhoonte, you talk very sensibly.

There are people in this world who would be happy to see others die for no reason and when its their turn to face the law, they want democracy and fair trial. On a bigger scale, you can look at Saddam Hussein who wants a fair trial now :) On a pathetic scale, look at our own Echoes who wants to be treated democratically :)

Well said dhara jee. It is just a waste of time to be discussing with these worthless idiots because all they are interested in is killing more people by supporting maoists. We should not waste our energy in talking trash to them because they will be dealth with properly by people. We should concentrate now on making Nepal peaceful. For that, election is a must and we should encourage people to participate in it.

In case you have not noticed, even people of Sajha , who cared to vote, have approved that the election should go on as schedule if you see on the front page poll.

If Buddha is the authority of peace that is not what he taught us. Tit for tat is not conducive for peace process. Being another Saddam to bring justice may not be wise .

<<<<<>>>>>
You keep an account of deaths on both sides. don't you?

<<>>>
Listen to the people carefully. Many idiots who are supporting Maoists these days are requesting them to quit killing peple, even armed force. They don't want more people to be killed.
On the other hand, great minds want rebels to be "crushed". afterall It's not killing.
This very concept of goverments after 1990 is responsible for leap and bound growth of rebels. Now our King is following the same with more intensity leading toward severe crisis.

Let peace prevail my beloved country. ( To make sure that people won't think me as desh drohi and supporter of killing spree)

ShriyaK, let's assume that maoist are not for peace and that only the king is for peace. Then , why didn't he respond the truce announced by maoist in last September? The maoists waited 4 months to see if the king comes with some positive mood for dialogue. Why the hell he has to deploy army in Rolpa while the maoists are following the ceasefire?

Just yesterday Maoist Leader Prachanda, in an interview with Kantipur has reminded the king that they are ready for dialogue. The maoists have repeated their comittment that they would accept any outcome of constituent assembly election held under the supervision of UN. So, if the king has gut, why doesn't he test himself?

Its the king and only king responsible for this bloodshed in the country. The maoists want to put the arms down but this is the king and his slaves who do not want that . Why? Its because, if maoists continue fighting..the king can continue sidelining the political parties and he will get chance to strengthen his autocracy in the country.

The country is not his asset and people are not his slaves.

ShriyaK, you don't have to label others who do not agree with you as "stupid", do you?

"And is election is a must".....what a funny...more than 50 percent seats have no candidates..major political party leaders are in jail or in detention or under house arrest. Many candidates even didn't know that their canidature had been filed without their knowledge....Many withdrew their names..not because of the fear of maoists only but because Kamal Thapa's party wanted because Kamala Thapa wanted his men be elected un-upposed. The Royal Army is the protector of the ballot boxes. So, what kinds of election is this and for whom?

The king took election as his personal issue of his prestige and his slaves are determined to conduct the election to fulfil the "raj hath" and they don't really care whether there are candidates or voters or not...Who cares?

Once_in_a_while...
I am not Guru of Poltics. But, whatever you mention above is reality of Nepal. No Body care about Nepalese people, so we need some new system other than autocracy, democarcy and maoist. Do you have any idea? coz we need solution rather than talking who is who....I am very frustrated with king arrogrant, parties selfishness and maoist attacking to even general people...what we do about it ? Let us do brainstroming about this problem so anyone of us, could provide new idea to Nepal. Right now I am blank...I don't see any solution..........

Neo_Nepal. Its simple. The king has to take initiatives. He has to announce ceasefire and pull his army men back. The king has to say ," Boys, common let's talk..tell me what I have to give up and what you can, let's talk..lets forget our boundary lines and find out sustainable solution for the peace in the country". Talk behind the closed door for several days and if necessary for months..Eat your breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks whatever together and continue talk...When you talk, certainly some solution comes out..Communication is very important.
But these people don't talk but exchange bullets and bullet doesn't give any solution but blood..

There is nothing we can braimstorm about..Its the king who has to overhaul his brain...

I believe there is very little reason to talk at all. It's time for action. Either Ganendra will extinguish Maoism in Nepal or Maoism will extinguish monarchy rule.

Let them finish one or the other.

Maoists observered the truce for the sole purpose of rearming and reorganizing their army so they could attack Nepal and Nepalis. The main point in Maoists’ manifesto is that it is ok to LIE, DECEIVE, and KILL as long as the end result is that the Maoist elites have power!! If we can't see that then maybe we do deserve the maoist!!! If anyone out there believe that the Maoists are for DEMOCRACY... you don't understand the meaning of the word! If you think people that negotiate and team up with the Maoist for their own self interests are democratic ... you are perhaps little slow in the cerebral!! No one in Nepal is for democracy!!!

Lalpari, your opinion and understanding gives no way out! During the past several years, we can see that maoists have come over with a lot of changes in their political lines and policy . This is the fact that whether any body likes or not, maoists have been a political power and shold not be overlooked or under-estimated and they can not be eliminated either. When two agitating forces can not finish each other, negotiation is the only way. King has to give up his certain power and the maoists have to be flexibile, too. Why should innocent people get killed in the war of two extremes?

I don't think anybody in Sajha or Nepali politics said that Maoist is for Democracy and when we say that there should be dialogue and negotiation, it doesn't mean that we are going to the line of maoist. Dialogue is the process and without entering in process, what the heck we can expect?

<>

Who do you think are high in the cerebral, lalpari? I guess not King G, Prince P, VP Giri, HM Thapa. For whose interest are these people for?

I see very little reason to come for negotiations for any political and military forces in Nepal. All the three political forces in Nepal have radically different agendas from each other that there will be very little common grounds left to sustain a stable political system.

Instead, let them go on a all out war and finish each other out and let the winner will take all. WINNER TAKES IT ALL

Thank you dhara jee, lalpari jee and shriya jee for trusting me so much with your vote of confidence to stand in election as Prime Minister. Thank you so much to 1000s of people who also sent their vote of confidence to me through emails to stand as prime minister.

However there is one thing:
1) To be prime minister in Nepal, one has to be corrupt, stubborn and silly (e.g. Girija, Suryabahadur) and without personality (Girija, Lokendra, Deuba , tulsi giri etc). However, I do not possess any of those qualities. On the contray, I am quite ethical, smart, educated and handsome. So, I may not be the right candidate for the post. But if you still insist on your points, I will reconsider your requests.

"I am quite ethical, smart, educated and handsome." Qualities that will make you a good Maoist leader or a good RNA killer. Please re-think your future options.
