My Nepali driver's license expired about a year ago while I was in the U.S. I'm visiting home in a few months and I'm wondering if I can ship the expired license to Nepal and have it renewed. Has anyone done this before?

US license will not work, Go to a local AARP and make an international license for $15. That will work for 1 year. Meanwhile, you can renew your Nepali license.

Sorry, it should be AAA and AARP. You can even get it by mail. See the link below.

mercy,
i'll be in Nepal during Dashain and by the time the office resumes and I get my license renewed, I'll have less than 2 weeks to spend in Nepal. Going through all that hassle (you probably know what I'm talking about) of renewing license and paying 3X the "rajaswo" (because my license expired almost a year and half ago) to drive/ride for ~10 days doesn't really appeal to me.

I'll have to renew it anyways because unless you renew your licence, you'll be paying fine for every year until you get it renewed. Would be nice if there's a way to renew it without being physically present at the office so that it'll be ready by the time I get home :)

Why are you worrying so much? Just go to Nepal and enjoy. It does not take lots of time to make a fake one and reading your previous excuses I don't think you are interested in making a genuine one. You are anyways going to be there just for two months. Don't forget to tip the officer if you are caught since it is Dashain time.
