Returning your country can never put you in wrong direction. You had promised to the Visa consular at US Embassy that you'll return back to Nepal once you complete your studies and you should do so.

nice decision! i wish everyone who enters the States was like you. you'll most likely earn less in Nepal but if that's where you want to be and will be happy, go for it.

thats a very good descision and i  wish whatever u brought from your country ,u take it back with the inflated amount.Getting back empty handed does not make any sense.of course u have the degree but u cannot do ath unless u have one of the following money or power..it would have been a good descision if want to open some outsourcing company in compliance with an american company that would be a better way of getting back to your country. That  way u wud be giving both to your country and ur country men.
our country does not want one more graduate.already the unemployment rate is 42%.
if u think u can do sth for your country financially u can get back because thats whaT Nepal needs from people like us.
we don't lack educated personnels but we lack person with vision who can revolutionalise the country's economy.
I know a person who got back to Nepal and opened a software company and currently emplyoing 300 engineers.
I know a person who got back to Nepal and descided to produce a quality movie thus trying to change nepalese movies perspective.
Be the person who can change ur country not the one who would add up the country's problem.
by the way how long u have been in States.????
I am masters student in engineering field too.

Well I've read somewhere "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it's the only thing that ever has"
In this case you can start that group yourself I'm sure you will find thousand and millions there eager to give a hand to you
! about me I'm also thinking of going back after my advanced studies too!
God bless Nepal and Nepali.

nketo,
That's a great decision you've made. Go for it. I have friends who went back to Nepal and became a great entrepreneurs. Example the blogger of whynepal.com, the owner of BhatBhateni supermarket, the CEO of dreams and Ideas, the CEO(Anil Shah) of Nabil bank and many more just to name some.
But before you move back, have some experience in the real world. Knowledge is just not enough. You need to understand its implementation too.
So have a vision and a perspective and go back.

And the matter of the fact, is , that I am too going back next June. Can't wait to move back.

My advice may be in odds with the other people here but i advice you to have some(2-3) years of work experience before returning to Nepal.

Nketo,

There is no other place like home; returning back home is never a bad idea. However, since you are already in the US, I would strongly suggest you to consider the following before you come to your final conclusion:

1) Do you know what do you want to do in Nepal?
2) Do you have what it takes (Capital, Connections, Experience, etc.) to do whatever that you want to do?
3) Things do not always pan out as you want them to. Do you have plan B?

If your answers to all the above  question are YES, I see no reason for you not to return back to Nepal. Best of luck!

On a separate note, I am returning back sometime late  this year, or early next year. I don't know if it is for good or not, but I would certainly like to dip my toe first before I go in the water.

Regards,
Megalomaniac

Megalomaniac, pravachan ta diyo sathi lai,

May I ask, what is your plan A and plan B for your "late this year, or early next year" return plan?

I dont know about your status. If you are on F1 visa or OPT, i think you should atleast try to get a feel on working in the United States. I beleive that no employer wants to be a last resort or wants to pay a high wage to inexperienced fresh out of school graduates. I think that there are way more opportunities here than in Nepal for fresh graduates.
I dont know your situation and values. Good luck!!!

I just got back from nepal 2 days ago and have been going nepal every year. I graduated last year, undergrad and thinking to join Master's pretty soon, work for 2-3 yrs, get some experience and then m thinking to go back Nepal too. Nepal has been developed in many areas rapidly. There are many area's where one can engage in something good project.
My friends have been doing pretty good in Nepal. One of my fren is running a company where he has hired 10-12 people and he has only Bachelor degree from Nepal only. He and most of them in Nepal says that there is a lot to do in Nepal.  I have been pretty motivating from them and wanted to drop a comment in this motivating thread too.

I have myself been dreaming about returning back....
I have been in UK (not US) for about seven years...... got two degress, many specialist trainings and got ample experience in my field too....

If I go by Megalomaniacs' check list (i.e.)

1) Do you know what do you want to do in Nepal?
2) Do you have what it takes (Capital, Connections, Experience, etc.) to do whatever that you want to do?
3) Things do not always pan out as you want them to. Do you have plan B?

All the answer to the question is YES except for Capital. I excatly know what I want to do in Nepal. I do have connections and experience. Most importantly I have plan B and C too.

Most importantly, I am willing to go but need to sort out finances.

Best of luck nketo !!
