Do you guys know if the rewards earned from credit cards like chase and citi can be redeemed as cash? I went through their website but they directed me to some online shopping website. I do not want to buy anything but just redeem the points as cash. Would that be possible? And also I have a few credit cards which I had not used in a while. Now they sent me letters saying that my account has been closed because my balance to credit ratio is high. Has anyone had a similar situation? If you call them do they reopen the account? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Yes. You can redeem your points to cash but you won't get much. Instead, I'd strongly recommend you to redeem the points for goods. My credit card ( BoA ) gives me 250 bucks when I redeem 25,000 points for cash. I'm not a 100 percent on your second question but Credit Card companies do close your credit accounts citing inactivity ( mainly to save themselves/you ) from the hassle of fraud. I had a Capital One Credit card that I hadn't used for almost 2 years and it got closed by the company.

Yes, you can. I have a credit card from citi. I have been getting cash(they send check). If you have citi credit card, log on your account. On the right side, you can see the icon " Earned dollars". If your accumulation is more than $50, you can request a check for you, either by calling them or online. If you want to do online, just click on " see details" right below your accumulated dollars. After you click it, you can see your rewards detail. If you go almost to the end of that detail ( on the same page), you can see an icon, " Request Rebate Check". Click on it and do whatever you are asked to do. After a few weeks(Maximum 2 weeks) you will be able to get your check in your mail box. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
