first and foremost, i simply care not about ANA - total waste of time & money if you ask me now then, as someone mentioned it above: ANA is for those who want to see and be seen. very true. how come? 1. ANA has 0% (yep, spelt zero percent) outreach to college students, which comprise of the largest chunk of nepali population living in the states. and of those who willingly go to ANA conventions, they like to be seen. simple. 2. i must be either ignorant, or have my eyes blindfolded. because i've never heard of any programs being taken into Nepal through ANA's initiation. sure, we hear big names participating in ANA but what's the point if these big taaukes can't contribute even a penny-worth-program? then it must be that the people who go there are simply busy cock-a-doodling their shitty achievements. 3. an annual meeting of nepali people? i doubt that. few 100s out of 1000s meeting for bounce, booze and boobs ain't make this the 'great' ANA. anyone can get all that in whichever city they are living. then what's the point of meeting annually? being showoffs of course! in the end, lemme say that i am not bashing in entirety against ANA - it might have done some handful of good works, and god bless they continue in this direction. however, in the bigger picture, ANA is worthless. go, no go, hate, no hate, support, no support - up to you. my final say though is, instead of inviting members to attend their function in big cities, if ANA were to ask me to donate that travel fare through its banner, for a good cause, i'd gladly volunteer, adding $10 more, just for the goodwill

Btw ANA wants 70% of the profit for ANA Boston. They have not given Boston NO MANPOWER, NO LOGISTICAL SUPPORT, NOTHING AND YET THEY WANT 70% ? WHAT THE FUG ? BOSTON does all the fuggin work and they they the big chunk of the prize ? Everyone volunteering here in Boston have a full time job but are contributing out of being a Nepali but ANA thinks these folks are like sweat shops where they can come in USE THEM AND RAKE IN THE $$$$$. THIS IS FUGGING BULLSHIT. BOYCOTT ANA !!!!

I don't know how long ya'll been here in USA, ANA was made for Nepalis who live in USA to interact, back in the 80's when it was formed. There were very few nepali people in this country scattered all over the place, So once a year people would gather and chatter about hardships, being alone in a state or in a college and back than everyone who came was a student. I agree ANA has changed a lot since the early 90's it has become who is who?? I agree with Bhikari, most ANA goer's are student's but they don't cater for us at all anymore, it's all about politics. It's all about the new people who are arriving in droves and bringing Nepali style of community and politics, I know most of you resent it nowaday's and I don't blame you. I want to stay annynomous, I have tried my best to voice my opinion about how we can change ANA and bring more young people but it's to no avail., I am not into politics, I came to US a teenager and a F1 visa like most of you, I have seen ANA evolved from 500 at most, to 7000 people gathering at one time, The people who run ANA have no sense of how we change things, It is being run by politically motivated people. No offense to anyone , religion, caste or sex, this year it seems like Gurungs are taking over, When will ANA realize, young hip and educated kids come to ANA and not the greencard lottery holders or refugee status people. Since these people have taken over ANA has changed into a political fighting field. and you me and people like us are left to bear the expense. Baltimore was a total disaster of mismanagement and me me attitude, which changed the game for Oakland ANA, where only few people showed up. This year ANA has Dohori Night's every day of the convention, I love my culture and my country but I didn't grew up in a village or a farm, I grew up in kathmandu and like many students, I like rock hiphop electro and I love nepali but don't coax me with your primitive way's. We came to USA to be progressive not regressive,. I like folk songs but one night of Dohori Night should be enough... 3 night's is too much... ANA has become a platform for nepali artist to get greencard in usa, I am not against that, more power to these people but not on my expense. We need more youth envolvement in this organization, so we can take over from these people and make ANA what it really supposed to be,,, The Slogan for this year's ANA is Diversity-Unity-Prosperity but they have failed to follow their own lead, there is no diversity, there is no unity and only people who are prospering is the organizers,,, Don't take me wrong, I have married intercaste, I believe one nepal one nepali, as soon as we leave nepal, our only identity should be NEPALI not gurung, magar, newar, chettri, etc, etc., This kind of hate mongering has divided us in nepal it's dividing us in USA as well. No matter how much open minded you want to be, when people start making groups, people like you and me are left out, who don't want to get involved in one ethnic party, why can't we just have one nepali party and enjoy eachother's tradition's and culture???? I think that is called learning, if we don't share we can't learn... as the saying goes, United we Stand-Divided we Fall.. Please come to ANA and voice your opinion's if you speak and if you stand up we can change ANA,, We have to change the leadership of ANA...IF we don't do anything and just complain we can never win, but if you come and voice your opinion we can certainly change,, My 2 cents Sajha ko Chor

Bathroom Coffee that 70 30 started from Baltimore convention .. before that in LA it was 60 40, it gives the oppourtinity for the city to host ANA and bring people to their city but yes I agree with you 100% Where does the freaking money go?????? what is ANA doing with that 70% which is over 100 grand easily,... Please don't boycott come and voice your opinion,,,, shout,, talk to every ANA executive you meet and tell them what you think.. if you try we can change, I have tried every year, but it goes to deaf ears, Trust me ANA has become a political startup point for people in USA who have political aspiration's in Nepal... BTW ANA wasn't made to help Nepali's in Nepal it was made for Nepali in USA.,,, it has grown so much now, I think we can help people in Nepal and USA at the same time.,... I have seen nobody's rise to power and become a star.. same like nepal Natabad-kripabad.,, and chakadi.... I can't do all that, alone I can't muscle anything.. Bathroom Coffee come over man, I will be there sometime tonight or tomorrow in Beantown, let's talk ,.., we can change this thing around,,,

Nice, One But let me remind you that ANA was created by you people who had come long time back so it was u people duty to preserve the integrety and morals of this organization. So there is no point in blaming the new commers and green card holders. I for one m a newcommer and i dont even know wat the heck ANA is about and i dont want to know cause i know its just another one of those organizations which is just looking to profit at others expense in the name of cast, origin and region

I am not blaming anyone, we were kids back than, I have no political agenda, only reason I go is to hangout with nepali people.. I came in the 90's ANA was already there, we just went to see our friends who we could only meet 2 days in a year, eventually it evolved into a giant and suddenly everyone became deaf and blind to our needs... IN bold letters NATABAD-KRIPABAD & CHAKADI this has ruined ANA, if you aren't within the founding members family you can't hold top posts' at all ,, they don't have democratic vote at all.... it's all closed door voting... I am a little man, I can't do anything alone,,, people like us get crushed everyday.. One time I tried to stay in one of their meetings,, it was all old folks and they didn't want to hear a thing I had to say.... after that I just attend ANA do my thing and go home at the end of the day... With all that money they make we could have done so much here and in nepal.... it's a money making machine, if channeled the right way,,,, we could make ANA bigger and better... I personally know some people in the committee, trust me they are all affiliated with political parties in nepal... Young people have power to change, we have manpower we volunteer for ANA for nothing, we do it for Nepali people but we are never recognized, they dont even give you a certificate, no food no drinks all freee...

Who are you calling out for change. People like me who are looking for a job desperately. u think we are intrested in these stuffs. we just want a little help from those people who we think are our own people. we ask for help because u have gone through the same process through which we are going now. Many people think that DV pareko bhau khojeko eta uti dekhauna khojeko tara actually we are just looking for some simple help to survive here. And we dont need some ANA or NASAE or wateva that exist there..we dont want to be involved in any power struggle..all we want to is to get to know some of our country people dats all.. lets keep this simple fellas and not complicate things by creating organisations..lets just be ourselves and not show offs

Ayuslal it's called networking, if you come to places like this, you will meet people and can get ideas and find out where job's are and what you could do to find a better job ni... It would be nice to have a workshop about these kindda things in ANA to help people who need help.. Wish we had people to guide us when we were young, we had to learn everything on our own, we made mistakes and we learned from it... I would never wish for you young people who are new to this country to go through what we went through... Come as you are and try to interact, there are always helpful people around and there will be bad people too but just because there a few bad apples not everyone is like that... if nepali won't help nepali nobody will//

I cannot travel far because i dont have a vechile so it is not possible for me to go around conventions. Any ways hope people like you take over these profit making organisation and convert it into an example to which our politicians can look up to. I know networking is important but i dont even know if there are anyother nepalis living where i live
