Are there some SAJHAYATIS going through MBA admissions in East Coast, preferably VA, MD, DC,MA and NY area for fall 2010 ? I would like to form a group to share ideas with regard to admission strategies, essays and recommendations in order to strengthen the application and increase the likelihood of admission. I am eyeing on Tier 2 top line Universities in this area. If any of you out there have been already admitted or in the process of admission, please share your experiences and inputs . Also do not hesitate to include your choice of universities, course types and so forth.

I am shooting for the schools in Louisiana (not anything especific, but my gf is going there too). I am intending for LSU or LA Tech. 1.About the essay--the purpose letter--whatelse do you all recommend to put. One more thing I do not have any work experience, so the recommendation letters from faculties are just straight forward recomm letters. What big of a deal is it? 2.And what does your chances of getting assistantship depend on? 3. How does the assistantship appointment process work? (in experience of the ones who have gotten one) Because at LA tech , they said they would not start looking @ application for assistantship until b4 a week to the beginning of the semester. Does it mean the first semester you will end up paying the whole tuition and fees? 4. Are there any 2-, 3- tier universities in anywhere that would be affordable to nepali students with high probability of assistantship chances? How about NM Tech?? last but not the atleast thank you so much to the originator of this valuable thread.

Mad Season and Birkrishna,
I appreciate for your valuable inputs. Lets share GMAT experiences. Have you done with GMAT or still preparing for it ? I am sitting on GMAT exam next week. My preference is state of Virginia and universities here . William and Mary tops my list followed by George Mason university. I found that some nepalese are studying in william and mary too, there are some in George Mason already. In terms of job prospects, teaching modules and so forth , William and Mary is very ideal one, though admission is more competitive than George Mason. Their Accounting program has been ranked No 1 in US by Public Accounting Board while thier MBA program has been ranked in top 50 consistently by various ranking agencies.
With regard to application and recommendation, I believe the efforts should be directed towards presenting a clear reason what prompted you to study MBA and clear goals as to what you seek to achieve particularly with MBA and business education in general. I am eligible for in-state tuition and considering their quality, financially that sounds reasonable for me. I have had some corporate work experiences with Nepalese institution but it dates back to 5 years. I am working in US but something not relevant, yet my career history is progressive- comparing US work form a separate sheet.
Lets share more inputs here and help each other.

BirKrishna Bro, LA tech offers quarter system and it's kind of pain in the ass and you'd end of paying fees 3 three times in a span of 3 months in a year.

All i looked was GMAT review prepared by the GMAC. It was well explained and clear. And I also went through the Knewton free review online for 7 days. It will also allow you to give diagnostic test and check ur progress beforehand.

Let's revive this thread I have nearly 2 months left for the test and I am not ready for it. I have not done any CAT tests. I think my problem is ma dherai kaam garerahechhu (60 ghanta), but I have no choice. Is there anyway I could work same hours and prepare diligently for the test.
