what do u guys think of this new OPT rule which says you'll be out of status if you are unemployed after 3 Months Total..??????? i wasn't really aware of this new rule, when i talked to my DSO today, she said it is a very serious matter, You ca be out of status if you do not get a job even after 90 days(3 months) on OPT... Now , does that mean we've to accept any jobs(can be low paying) that is related to our field of study ?? cuz if we wait for another job, it may go beyond 90 days and we are OUT OF STATUS....This new rule is a real Killer. Please share your ideas and views and your thinkings on it.. It is one of the serious concern for New Graduates (2008). Racheeta.

techguy, how are you going to prove that you are working 20hrs per week by joining consultancy. According to new rule, the employers need to report/show that you worked there atleast 20hrs/week.
Those who has their OPT approved before 8th april can still apply until july 8th. But DSO told me that there is no grace period after that. You are straight out of status. Even if you want to join the college, you have to enrolled before that three months expired and not after that. And once you are enrolled, your OPT is changed back into F1 status.
In short, this OPT rule sucks. Three months not only to find job, but also to enrolled in college in case you dont find job.
