i know tha ktm was one of the developed city, not due to newar but due to nature. If it was by newar it should be most develoved city till now, because still major population in ktm are newar. By the way i am creating such thread because since eight month i have seen alot of thread from So called Newar indicating other caste of Nepal. i do not care about caste but i do not like these newar organizing caste and language system which promote to devide the mentality of Nepalese people.

I have seen Newar soldiers and officers serving in the British Gorkha Army and retired from the BGA. Granted their number is not that many compared to other known martial race Gorkhas. You may not see a Shrestha or a Bajracharya, but there are Pradhans. And, as far as I am concerned they are equally a good Newar.

British were very good in divide and rule policy. They also adopted a policy NOT to take the the Buddishts. Their real excuse was that since they belong to the Buddhist faith, they will not kill when the time comes to. That is simply not true as the two VC recipients, Ganju Lama and Gaje Ghaley, were of the Buddhist faith. The real reasons behind it are as follows:

-Chandra Shamsher, who did everything to please his British masters to keep the Nepalis under his feet, was most apprehensive of the Tamangs, of the Buddhist faith, because a group of them rovolted against the Rana rules and their exploitation. To put them down for ever, with the advice of his raj guru pandit, Chandra Shamser told British not to take them in the British Army. At the same time, Chandra Shamser made sure that the Tamangs will NOT rise to the rank of the officers in the Royal Nepal Army lest they raise their voice against the injustice, discrimination and exploitation, and revolt again.

Britishers just found an excuse to oblige the Maharaj in their game of scratching each other's back at the cost of common Nepalis.

-There were several off springs born out of the Tamangseni nanis working at the palaces and the Ranas wanted to hide it forever.

Someday, historians with guts will write openly and unhesitatingly that Rabindra Shah was the eldest son of King Mahendra who was born out of wedlock with a Gurungseni.
If you were blind, then it will be hard to notice the mongoloid feature of Aishwarya, notorious Shahard Shah,and many others.

Unfortunalely, we have not seen any historians who have gone to get the truth. They have simply sang the same tun and chorus that favours the rulers. So much so, even the foreigners relied heavily on the secondary sources of information supplied by those bias informers aka historians who have distorted the facts.

The very idea of "martial race" is racist, ipso facto. It is making the assumption that certain races are more physically capable than others, which in turn begs the question: if certain races are stronger than others, would that mean that there are races out there that have higher mental capacity than others? So where do we draw the line? What's sad is that people fall for this trap and automatically assume that "martial races" are stronger than non-martial races, without any shred of evidence. However, the generalization is that these martial races are also mentally challenged. Let's think about the implication here. If we want actual equality among various groups, we need to do away with branding people this way and presuming that certain races are physically capable but mentally challenged while others are the exact opposite. It does not work that way in real life.

though, I am not a Newar...born in outside the valley and raised in Katmandu,and attended at Vanasthali school I had some very good friends of Newar community, they always gave me respect and protection while I was minority in their community. I am sure it is not a race...individuals from any race ....most of them are good and some of them are bad. Even some of individuals of mine own race are worst than any other sect.

Actually, the racist threads are coming from mandales. They foresee their power waning and they break down into hysteria because of that. They have nothing better to do with their lives it seems.

There is nothing to be proud of in giving your life for the English. I am glad that at least Newar community has not been fooled by the Englishmen. Nepal should ban on British recruiting from Nepal. This is the remmants of the old feudal system. It must be uprooted. The assholes do not even pay the same amount they do to their citizens.

I very much agree that the recruitment in any foreign army should be banned. That historical basis sometime argued in favour of it does not exist any longer. It is simply a matter of employment opportunity.

If the Ranas had not allowed the Gorkhas to be recruited by the British and continued it even after the independence of India, one thing is certain ---- you would not see the monopoly of a few castes in the government today ---which, in turn, is another reason for dissension that potentially enabled the Maoists to bank on.

No matter what you show from outside or how open minded you appear to be, most Nepalis from inside are racist, or rather casteist.
