Hey guys,

I recently changed my status from F1 to H1b. I'm planning to go to Nepal for VISA stamping soon.
1. What are the documents that I need to take with me for interview and port of entry?
2. Can I book an appointment with the consulate from USA?

Thanks.

Thanks pyackman.

I'm planning to take employer-support letter and paystubs just in case.

About booking appointment, how can we do it? Payment seems to be the biggest hurdle. Can we pay it online through CreditCards? The embassy website only talks about NIBL options. Let me know if you have any idea.

Thanks.

H1b is for specific job requiring specific education/training so i suggest you bring a bit more supporting documents.
1. Job offer/ employment verification
2. Job deskription from employer (that kinda describes the responsibilities and required education level)
3. Academic transkript that shows your graduation level
4. Pay stubs
5. If its client based, make sure you have letter from client as well describing your employment
6.may be even LCA.
and such....

For application:
You start the process online, go for booking appointment, it will generate a “code”. Have someone from Nepal go to IBL and pay the fee using that code. Once it is paid, you can access that site again and can complete the booking.

Thanks ark.

Yeah, your suggestions sounds very convincing about the need of more supporting documents due to specialty nature of H1B.

I do have the all the documents you just mentioned. It is a direct job with my employer so I'll have them write employment verification stuffs / vacation letter too.

About the appointment, I was thinking along the same line as a last resort. It would certainly have been easier if we could pay up with a credit card here, but guess not.

Any ideas about what's required at Port-of-Entry besides a valid visa? I have the approved i797 with the i-94 on it. Any idea what to do about it?

Only the i797 is important. only that will we ask during interview. I stamped in august
You can take other document for just in case if you need. After H1B stamp you have to do employment registration in Kathmandu Nepal ( shram as we Nepali say) only that time you will get some stress. oh document bayena teyo bayena Nepali ko bani ta ho. They will say you to tell your employer to send your job offer in there email. job offer, employment registration document keep with you while returning to USA. you need these document during check in time .

Thanks hyolmo_boy,

You had i797A? If so, did you leave the i94 with CBP officials when you left US or you had it with you all along?

Any experience on Port of Entry you faced would be great as well. I will be gone for 7 weeks, so wondering what they'll ask for relatively longer leave.
