Yes, it is outstanding progress. But do you know the quality? What type of Ph.D. and M.S. will be producing by IAVS. We don't have access to different journals where you can reach for the recent development in the scientific field. For the sake of degree you can open any program. I think, we should seriously think about the quality not for the quantity.

I am doing Ph.D. in one of the most prestigious universities here in United States. I sometimes had difficulties to find relevant literatures for my dissertation.

The limitation of resources such as funding, new equipment and materials is common everywhere. Hence, let?s look at positive side. It will gradually be more refined and sound in terms of quality.

O!!!!! MJ Saab, Who are you? Where are you? I am defenitely not against the program run by IAVS. That is good start, no doubt in my mind. Resources are one thing. It is not that we don't have enough resources in Rampur. We do, we don't have proper management and proper utilization, same as what our country is facing since so many decades. And another truth is that those who came to USA or Europe from Rampur to pursue higher education(s), most of them are not returning. I am sure you 'may" fall on the same category. I am sorry for that. But this is truth. Because there are several things behind on it. You know, I know. Let's encourage those we are really involved to run that program and make it better. I am not Rampure but I do have concern about that Institute.

katahosathiji,

I am from Chitwan, and I am glad to hear about MS and PhD program in Rampur. As for quality, don't worry about that rightnow. Reputed MS and PhD programs are not established overnight. It takes time. It takes hardwork of graduate students, as well as the faculty members. Even Princeton/Harvard/Berkeley/Yale had long spells of lackluster research programs.[Before 1920s, they were like country clubs, while universities in Gettingen, Berlin and Paris were world capital in sciences.]

Your dean may be the worst guy politically. I don't know. I don't want to comment on that either. But if good things are done by even the worst guys, we need to appreciate that. Students there might have found their dream of PhDing in Israel shattered with the scrapping of 'quotas', but these are temporary loss. A PhD from Rampur will sooner or later get chance to see the research in Israel or USA, believe me.

I used to live in Rampur Campus. It is nice campus but spoiled by politically ruined teachers.

Just thought to let you know the new WORLD RECORD, our IAAS has set

I defended thesis on September-2006, TU says, "Rampur has not sent the format of transcript of 2004-batch", and the dean has been saying "I am working on it" since then. I'm still waiting for that GREAT transcript with YEARS of work of our dean.

Congratulations to all of us.....we are from the institute that never issues transcripts!!

By the way, does anyone have an idea, how can I convince my graduate office here in a US university the reason I don't have a transcript for almost two years?

Thanks!!
