I Love Nepal and the Nepalipan we have.
I love feeing of being home in Nepal. I love the way Nepalese do things, like greet each other, smile, talk, and all the rituals we comonly share that makes Unique Nepalese........FORGET THE HATE, THE UNSTABILITY, THE RACIAL TENSION, ALL THE BAD THINGS, I request you all to forget all the negative and please,PLEASE write down what you love about our Nepal and the way of life. Im writing down about how I felt when I was in 11-12 grade i KTM.......Bunked school almost everyday LOL
I love the morning tea in the tea shop with a ciggarette and friends. The morning life in Kathmandu......kids rushing to school and guys waiting to see a glimpse of the girl you like in the school bus passing your hangout akhada..mostly a convienent store or a coffeeshop, Going to the bhaiyas hair saloon and making sure you look good and the loud music playing by the bhaiyas and them looking at the mirrors most of the time LOL.The bhaiyas in the saloon always are checking them selves out LOL. Then during lunch.......go to a local restaurant and order appetizer sukuti sadeko with some ciura or aalo chana, or chat and then head home for main LUNCH lol. Tell friends that youll be back soon. Do stuff and watch TV then around three wear your best looking outfit to go outside to the akhada to meetup with friends who are also dressed to look the best because its the time when Girls come out of school and all the school buses that passes the main road...the beautis were in the back of the bus bunched up together..they knew that we were watching LOL ....and were always smiling at us and few who had attitide looked away lol..we teased them a lot, we were a group of atleast 15-20 +++ of us good looking well dresses guys........almost all of us had long hair , leather jackets or overcoats jeans, Dingo boots, lockets, GNR or metallica t shirts with skulls, scarfs and round Goggles and red or black scarfs.and bracelets with chain and lots of rings LOL (REMEMBER THOSE DAYS). The girls if you had a girlfriend in the bus threw a letter or a number to call and soon after that rush of looking good and flirting......we used to do a walk aroud the neighborhood and say hi to friends and look tease freinds who had a crush on a girl who house we were walking by and yell out our friends name while he is like going crazy....OI SALA MAC***** HARU CHUP LAAG BHANE ......no one listens..and soon it could be any ones turn because our neighborhood had girls that most of us had crushes on and eveyone knew so when we walked pass each house .....your name was called out loud and you acted the same way and everyone just laughed ......then we used to head to the play ground and watch other friends play cricket or soccer. Then we stay there untill late and then again head to the main sreets. Thats the time when you are real hungry and the choices are plently. MOMO, SUKUTI, SEKUWA..with some Local Tuat, tongba, chyang , shree or just vodka........talking about Girls, Fights, bands, Music, all hear say things like OI MU*I HIJO ASAN MA JUGGE LAI PATAN KO KETA HARU LE KHUKURI HANYO RE NI.....BHOLI JANU PARCHA PATAN HANNA LAI .........or reason to get drunk.....MALAI REEMA LE DHOKA DIYO YAAR......or TAILE METALLICA KO NAYA ALBUM SUNIS.....DAAMI CHHA YAAR. and many more just random talk and many jokes...and there was always some one in our friends circle that was the target of the joke. and then home for dinner, ANd for the last time run out to the store and get one more churot and supadi and so does many friends........so we ended up hanging out late untill we see the VAN with red light....LOL OI DHIDE AAYO BHAAG.........and almost the same life repeated the nextday and the other. I was 16 yrs and enjoyed to 181/2 ..... Now Im in the USA and recently when I went back to Nepal 2006. ...THAT LIFE WAS LONG GONE......all friend were either settled or abroad. New faces were standing in the place of our akhada and I later found out those were the small kids running to school with their heavy bags and tumlets( water) and asking you DAI CANDY DINUS NA......now OH DAI CHUROT CHHA????? LOL.........even we were not there the torch had been passed to these kids who now look like HIPHOP ARTISTS wearing their pants down exposing their boxors LOL. I met some of my friends who were settled and had kids now.....it felt ackward but I felt very leftout and wanted to go back in time but couldnt. It was sad when I learnt some of my friends had died some became addicts and were hardly seen around. But some of them have become real successfull business men, career men, many abroad like me. AND some still struggling hanging out with the kids in the akhadas like they never changed no jobs no money .......FOR MELOL life changed ........JUST 10 yrs man and now just memories.

Going even further back.....I remember as kids during Dashai Tihar.....The air smelt different. There was a kind of feeling I had when the one month holiday of Dashain and Tihar came.......SADLY I've lost that feeling. The feeling of festive nature as an Adult I cant feel that way ever but I do remember how it felt as a kid during that time......, no school for a month meant no waking up early No teacher beating ( and whats up with that in Nepal.....Man I got spanked and beaten so much at school by teachers that if it was here in usa that those teachers would have gotton life in prison or even death LOL) I was mostly in a boarding school and anyone who knows boarding school fun ...will know what Im talking about. Sleeping in double bunk bets in a room of 60 or more. wake up early for jogging, PT and marshal arts. Crappy breakfast that made you fart a lot in the first class which created a huge FUN of disgusting smell dead rat and rotten egg blend...... SILENT BUT DEADLY GAS......lol.....School assembly....Shreemaan gambhir....NO syncronization at all. then school song,,,,prayer,,,,and speech by the principal and some choosen kid from grade 10. AND then Hair, nail ,teeth, shoes and school uniform inspection. MAN around Dashain NO MORE OF THOSE CRAPFOR A WHOLE MONTH YEAH!!!!!!!! Rememember those days guys ......it said for youngsters like us around 8-16 yrs old ........KITE FLYING.........KHASHI KO MASU..........NEW CLOTHES AND SHOES......AND MONEY FROM TIKA's DAKSHINA....and later DEUSHI AND BHAILO......I remember as a kid running after CHET KITES with my eyes in the sky hardly watching my footsteps......jumping into others house and trees, SISHNO BUSH....now whats that SHISNO????do can you get it here in the US..........it hurt like crazy....funny thing was when anyone got hurt by SHISNO....the street popular remedy was SINGAN..SSHHHIIIIIIIII.....and out came the .green snort from a friend or your own NOSE and applied all over the affected area LOL...YUCK!!!....anyone done that??? man during dashain I looked like a KHATE because I chased kites all the time and fell and torn my clothes and wounds every where specially on the knees. And then the fun of flying kites with friends ...what was that Nok maar Dhago????......AAAYYYY DARI WAL DHAGO CHOD DHAGO NABHAYE TUPPI CHOOOOOOD............all the kite language like ...kakaa halnu, guakh halnu, using rice to mend torn kites, maja halnu, variety kites like......sankhar ghote, Paan butte, Tin dharke, rato sadha, etc LOL man I was like ninja then...I could run full speed on high walls and jump from high places and all....and getting yelled at at home for looking like a khate at the end of the day.Now choosing your new clothes was fun too......but as kids, sometimes Me and my brother had the same looking out fit .......and as I grew older I used to get money to buy my own and it was never enough to get the one you liked the most but there was always other choices. During tika time I got a lot of money from relatives because we had a lot and some we didnt even know that we had to go to. LOL I felt like the richest dude but my sis always got more money because some places they didnt give dakshina to boys....That sucked.Count the money after every tika ANd then play cards...EK suka bot LOL...mostly flush, kitty and jutpatti.....LOL and food was everywhere you go....I felt my stomach was going to explode but we had to eat. If I remember it now ........MUKH MA THUK AAUCHHA.....Khashi ko masu, bhaat or chiura, aalo cauli tarkari, aalu ko achhar, tomato achhar, saag, raita, kaalo daal, ani Ghiu jhanne you know pure cow ghee), Tama, gundruk ra bhatmaas sadeko, mula ko achar and kakro ko achar (the ones which is sour and spicy from formented in the sun in bottles and clay pots) oohhhhh yummmm. and then its soon time for PATAKA...DEUSHI...BHAILO and friends start practicing but while quite young it was just AAAYY BHANA MERA BHAI HO DEUSHIRE....or BHAILIRAM..didnt matter boys day or girls day..we were out there. And since pataka was banned....we still bought them from shops..malta barut, chocolate bomb, jhirjhire, gamala, pistol, rockets, chakra....and I loved to jump when the chakra went on....LOL. I also loved to put a tin can on top of malta barut or the choc bomb and see it fly high......OH lighting candles everywhere in the house LOL so much fun...it looked so great...and the sounds around the neighborhood was incredible and festive in the evening.........I remember listeneing to all the patakas going all over the town....boom BOOM boom....and the smell of sulpher and the smell of that flower..that yellow one hung in houses, then some where you can start hearing...Bhana mera bhai ho.........deushire....and soon a group of smaal kids come in your house and start singing......give them 10rs and they leave happily......and then its time I headout where friends are gathering to go on our own venture. as young boys we tried to smoke and it felt soooo cool and drink too. sleep at a friends home and then equally divide the money or go picnic...then all those kaag puja,,,,kukur puja now I enjoyed that because I love dogs and we had up to 5 of them.......and I put tika, mala, and took blessing from the paws...and then BIG LUNCH OF BUFFALO MEAT AND BONES FOR ALL THE DOGS.....lol they ATE like there is no tomorrow........then came bhaitika ....... YUMMM another fun time .....after bhaitika......me and my brother were rich of fruits, nuts, sweets, spices like supadi, lwang, sukumel, elaichi etc...........And then like everyone in my friend circle.....HOMEWORK TIME..........LOL I always left my homework around the last days before the dreaded school started........my heart always felt heavy those days just before the school started........and soon enough.....school day was the next day...and worse for me because I was in hostel.......I had to go a day earlier..........I could almost cry but Held tough and as friends start comming back......ITS ALL FUN AGAIN except the crappy hostel food and strict teachers.............................

We used to fly "changaa" three months before Dasain. Then for some reason, you would see virtually not a single changaa after Dasain... not even one. That would be the start of "gucchaa" season which would go on all winter.
Do kids still fly "changaa" and play "gucchaa" nowadays? Perhaps not as much. Video game le keta-keti-haru-lai bigaaryo.

I know Riten ..these days kids are more into watching cartoon network, nintendo, playstation and stuff after school rather than gathering in the neighborhood to play chor police, chungi, hide and seek and all the fun stuff. Those kids are missing the basic skills of hanging out and having that life long special bond we share comon with our child hood friends........before there was afterschool martial arts in many schools and clubsand in the evening me and my buddies used to practice being ninjas and stuff LOL that was fun. I also remember playing with bows and arrows with my buddies after watching Ramayan and stuff....Naag Baan, Agni Baan, lol. And who could ever not have played the cycle tire rolling with a stick......man I was an expert. We got a lot of excercise with the out door activities which kids these everywhere around the world are missing.
