Guard!

If you've heard this puzzle, please don't ruin it for others. Just acknowledge but don't give out the answer....yet.

Does the total number of cards in both groups have to be even? If yes that is an impossibility, 33 is not an even number
OR
are you only speaking of even number of inverted cards in both groups? that is an impossibility again because 11 is not an even number either

But if you are saying that out of 33 cards two groups are made, let's say 20 and 13 and they both have 6 and 6 inverted cards, it makes a point, but that also means the inverted cards exceed 11.

What the odd number a catch?

Also, are the two cards in two different piles? Or are they mixed up and laid individually?

I have deleted the last two posts as they give away the answer unfairly.
Negative one point for HelpJava (as if points mean anything) for writing the solution for a puzzle he had heard before. I clearly stated, if you have heard it before- let others solve it!!

Behoove_me, trust me it works with the given parameter. Try it out, you know the trick to solving it already. And yes, I agree that the solutions that HelpJava has been posting isn't very intuitive- they are right though.

I think you just flip the whole card bundle (up side down), now you have 22 faced down cards. Then you put the cards one in a group and another in another group alternately. In this case each group will have 11 faced down cards.

Tank use the info provided, unless you want me to tell every single thing about the puzzle. It says he laid 33 cards in the table. If they were separated wouldn't it be too easy? Come on now.

Ok, I got another answer, take 11 cards from the top and flip them and put as another group. In this case each group will have equal number of faced dwon cards.

I have one quiz not sure if it is too easy to ask here. You reach to a three way junction. You dont know which way is the right way for you (You have to choose one from 2 ways as you not going to return back). There are 2 people on the road, one never lies whereas the other always lies and there is no way to know who is lier. You can ask only one question with only one of them. How you can get the correct way you need to go?

answer to Paradox Question:
you should ask, Does the left road lead to the Atlanta (lets say I want to goto Atlanta) according to the other guy?" If the answer is "Yes", than I should turn right, and if the answer is "No", I should turn left.

Nope. Why don't you try the answer yourself? Say it was the guy who never lies; you still are going to go the opposite way?

Behoove, I am counting on you to give a good detailed answers. I certainly couldn't have done a better job.

Fact is, it takes a while to write the puzzle and then scan through everybody's answer to know where they are wrong. Finally, explaining the answer that everybody understands takes time. If somebody answered it and it made sense to me, I'd just trust that other readers can follow the logic and try it on themselves. If they still didn't understand then they can post a question asking how. In that case I'd write an elaborate explanation. To be fair, nobody has complained that they didn't get the explanation/solution.

Answer to paradox's question:

The question asked to both of them is, "what would the other person tell if I ask him the right way" (there is no other way to find out if they are lying or telling truth if you ask 'them' the right way)

The truthful guy will tell you that the other person would lie and show him the wrong way.
The liar will tell you that the other person would tell the truth and show him the same wrong way calling it 'right' the truthful guy showed you a moment ago.

That means they both showed you a wrong way, so take the other way.

I haven't been able to understand the logic to the first puzzle.

This is my take on it.

Since Farke is blind, this is his line of thinking
"Since Tarke passed, it means one of two things (1) Both Dharke and Farke are wearing Bhadgaule, or (2) One of Dharke and Farke is wearing Dhaka and the other one is wearing Bhadgaule"

"Since Dharke passed, it could mean one of two things (1) Both Tarke and Farke are wearing Bhadgaule, or (2) One of Tarke and Farke is wearing Dhaka and the other one is wearing Bhadgaule"

How does Farke arrive at the conclusion that he is wearing Bhadgaule?

Rethink, hope this clarifies:

T D F
B B B T passes D passes
B D D T speaks D passes No brainer
B B D T passes D speaks When T sees D and F wear B and D, he is quiet, which makes D understand one between he and F is wearing B or D, how when he sees T wearing B and F wearing D, he understands he is wearing B or else it wouldn't have confused T at the first place.
B D B T passes D passes
D B B T passes D passes
D D B T passes D passes
D B D T passes D speaks No brainer

Rethink,
It seems you have similar kind of confusion I had.
To clarify:
Tarke has to reply first so he relies on what Dharke and Farke are wearing. So, he can correctly answer if and only if he sees both Darke and Farke wearing Dhaka topi. Tarke passes because he does not see both Dharke and Farke wearing Dhaka topies.

Dharke replies second, that means he can see what Tarke and Farke wearing and also can consider the response from Tarke. If Dharke sees Dhaka topi on Farke's head, Dharke could be sure that he is wearing Bhadgaule topi (otherwise Tarke would have answered correctly). But, Dharke passes because he does not see Dhaka topi on Farke's head. Also he does not see both Dharke and Farke wearing Dhaka topi.

Farke is lucky because he got chance to answer after Tarke and Dharke. The only condition in which both Tarke and Dharke would pass is if Farke is wearing Bhadgaule topi.
