We hear a lot about so called oppressed races in Nepal. Who are they, how are they oppressed, and by whom? From Maoist terrorists to Congress slimes, they claim they represent the oppressed races of Nepal. The oppressed races are those who aren't educated, don't own land, and aren't politically dominant. Lets examine the reasons behind their so-called oppression using historical logic, shall we? First, lets look at at the political domination. Then we will look into economic domination. Bhote groups have their own language and culture. Education was never part of their culture, otherwise they would have a written script to communicate and educate their young. Pahadis on the other hand had written script AND the history of learning. Education was never foreign to Pahadi, but it was to Bhotes. Today, the same Bhotes claim to be "oppressed" because they aren't educated and, therefore, aren't politically dominant. They should question their own ancestors for not creating a culture of learning. A lot of groups don't have a learning culture. They don't needed to. Tribal groups from Australia to Africa to America were not educated. They survived just fine in the ancient times. But now in the age of knowledge, education is valued and needed. They still don't have the culture for learning. From my own experience, the bhotes in my boarding school were NEVER into studying. The chippeka keta haru always hated us Bahuns who liked to study and prepare for exams and earn good scores. We excelled and they got STUCK. Can they blame us because they were "oppressed", or they blame themselves? Their parents were rich, no doubt, in the Gorkha army and all. But their mind was still primitive. Blame themselves not us. Now lets look at the Madheses. Terai was a malaria infested SWAMP LAND with very few people like Tharus. The Tharus never owned land. They were hunters. They hunted rats and small games. They did not know agriculture. After the swampland was cleared and Pahadis settled in Terai and owned a lot of land. Seeing their own Bihar being filled with Biharis, the Biharis started trickling into Terai. By the time they had arrived, there was no land for them to own. So how can they call themselves oppressed for being landless when 1) they were never into agriculture and 2) they migrated late, after all the lands had been taken. Hence, it is now clear that these 2 primary "oppressed" races have no merit to whine about oppression. They should blame themselves, not others who had learning culture and were quicker. That is all for now.

Bramhan bro! Your mind is infested with racist plague. Are you a diciple of Hitler? This is 21st century dude. Come out of den and face the world and see how gradually this world is changing in terms of humanity and human kind. And don't think that Gyatri mantra jandai ma sabbhanda thulo bahun nai ho. And don't underestimate other races of human kind. Though there are races in terms of language and color of people and type of work they do, You have to understand that humankind is one race. Otherwise you are no different than fourlegged creatures!

La Chef - "then why does the system claim to represent NEPAL" Because of the corrupt politicians. They don't care ABOUT different nations with "Nepal." They care about votes. And by lumping every race within the territory as "Nepali", they are feeding the lies of a "proud country." Kale Bhut - "It is that aquiline nose of yours" I am proud of my aquiline nose and my eyes are open(no pun intended). confused - "This post sud be deleted." You ARE confused. Sitara - "If your intentions are to champion the Brahmins by typecasting the other castes into "ones who have no culture of learning.......etc." you are not doing the Brahmins a favor either by giving questionable arguments. You are an embarrassment! " Try refuting me with facts, not "you are an embarassment" line. What is so questionable about my assertion? Are you saying that they were educated Bhotes before the evil Bahuns came and took away their education from them? No. Education was never part of their life. Vhootee - Clarify that Tibetan LAMAS(Buddhist priests) were educated, not the Tibetans as a whole. And, no, it is not me who wants to bother the Bhotes. It is the political parties who equate cultures and think everybody should be educated and dominant, or else oppressed. I know Bhotes have their own culture and language and I am sure they have their own social system or class too. I just want the alien system on them and the end result is angry Bhotes who claim oppression by Bahun-Chetris. thugged out - This line was perfect "Be warned, however, that you yourself might be judged someday because of your background. It is likely to happen." It isn't likely to happen. It has already happened. I grew up with bhotes and even little bhote children have that fed into them by their angry parents. Don't think I don't know it. newuser - This is not about feeling "superior." It is about feeling different. prashanta - Please cut with the Hitler cliche. It is boring.

Mons""r Brahmin, Are you fking crazy?? It seems like you are one of those oppressing and therefore are insecure cause they might get back to you. ...On a trip to Manchhet, half way thru Ganesh Himal, I met so many of those oppressed people... they work their ass off all year thru..growing food...corn to apples and raising cows...and only on summer they can afford to make about 1000 bucks - selling their corn and chhiya to trekkers like us...if they are lucky...and that is enough to buy more grains for the next year.. Another example..half the road to Gosainkunda had eroded due to landslide and upon asking the fellow villagers..why they have not been able to control the landslides every year, this guy told me..the villagers actually form a group and dig out the concrete and make sure they have landslides in the rainy season, for then they will have jobs again to build back the roads by winter and thus help feed their kids... Another project in Syangja made me come across women in support of their maoist husbands..running their shops, doing the Kheti pati their hubbies had previously done and bringing up their kids on their own so they can fight against the oppreesive government for the basic necessecities of life: roti, kapada and chatt... It is people like you mister Brahmin who ignore the truth and thus create oppression... I hope whovever agreed with him start oipening their eyes and not be so adamentaly ignorant... God Bless Ya'll

hushpoopy - I don't give a f*ck what they think. I am just telling you what they think. If it were upto me, all those so called oppressed races would be independent in their own country with their own systems the way they please. No f*cking oppression to worry about.

How Bahun or Bahunism oppress other Nepalese Races: (1) In constitution: Nepal is Hindu Kingdom, not included other religions. (2) Nepali Citizenship: Nepal has so many native tribal people who cannot have Nepali Citizenship. They have to simulated and bribe to get Nepali Citizenship where majority Bahun race control and issues Nepali Citizenship. (3) Nepali Political parties and politics: 95% Bahuns in Nepali political parties and run leadership where some other Native Nepali tribes even do not have one single representatives because of systematic oppressed by Bahuns race of Nepal. (4) Nepal Government Employment: 93% Bahuns work in Nepal Government offices as the senior and lower classes employees? and hold authorities as well as powers where some other Native Nepalese people even do not have one opportunity. (5) Nepal Education: Definitely other native Nepalese are behind in education but why?Nepali Language is a ?Khas? language and it is only national language for every purposes in Nepal. Khas language is Bahun?s mother tongue language. Khas language became so difficult to other native Nepalese where they hardly and gradually learning. Bahun learn Khas language at home by naturally, but to learn Khas language other native Nepalese people have to go to special school where school are not still existed in most of the part of Nepal. (6) Superior Racial blood and Mentality of Bahuns: Bahuns are always think that their race is the one superior. However, there were not a single facts and evidences that Bahuns can claimed as a superior race. In historical record tells that Bahuns are the people who can live without dignity, creator of caste system, saati system, child marriage, slavery, traitors, untrustworthy, become priest for survival not for religious belief and true faith, use Hindu religion and Bahunism as tool of corruption. These basic point where we obviously can find in our Nepalese Societies, Politics and Government offices and systems. These are the main reasons that Nepali Democracy failed so many times. So, We all Nepalese are suffering every day.

Kallywood - Your points sound like somebody asking why English created the English language -- to dominate the world. After all, without English now a days you can't do international commerce or use the internet. You probably did not get the analogy, but let me help you understand. When the Pahadis created "the system," it wasn't meant for so-called "Nepali" groups. It was meant for Pahadis who spoke the same language, followed the same culture, and were of same race. Later on, however, as the modern era crept in, it became necessary to form a "country" to remain free from the grip of the British and the Musalmaans.

OK, Braha-man jiu, tapai nai Bhrahmajasto, hami sabai agyani lai maf garidinu hola. Ok, enough of all this racial slurs, oH! the learned one who rightly endowned the title of Bhrahaman, can you suggest a way out of this ignorance that is gripping the Nepalese mentality. How can, others be like you the learned one, so ignorance is overtaken by the mode of goodness. If you have nothing constructive to offer for the tattering hopes and aspiration of a whole generation of Nepalese, do us a favor and keep your provoking thoughts to better use...

" I grew up with bhotes and even little bhote children have that fed into them by their angry parents" I don't think you were bullied because you were bahun. It has to do with the fact that bahun children are shorter before they really hit puberty. That is, at about 15-16 we have still not reached our maximum height. On the other hand, Gurungs, Rais, etc are much taller than we are before puberty, but they don't seem to grow much at 15-16, but we do. So by the time we're in the 10th grade, all the tall ones in class are bahuns, while the originally tall ones--Gurungs, Rais, etc--are the shortest in the class. I specifically remember that bullying seemed to stop once the short people start getting taller. Now, I'm nowhere saying that all Gurungs and Rais bully people. Those who do are just but a few. So of course bullying is usually done by big people on little people--those who can be picked easily. If you're bigger and taller than the rest of your classmates, most people are not going to slap you around. It has nothing to do with racism, as you are insinuating. Again, as I said, don't paint all "bhotes" with a broad brush just because of your encounter with a few bad apples.

I belong to Newar caste. I have lots of Bahuns friends. In my life time experience, If you pick 100 Bahuns, you will end with 5 Bahuns good people, 2 Bahuns can be close but you can heartly trust only 1 Bahuns. But sometimes you even can not count 1 Bahun. Therefore, We can not do mutual understanding and democratic sociolize with Bahun race from many reason of civilization. You know that if you can not trust one, You can not do cooperation, help, share and mutual understanding between multiparties thru democratic way. These racial problem of Nepal could be the main reason, Nepali Democratic system or government or society are failing so many times.

kallywood - Don't kid yourself by having a Bahun friend. And Newar isn't a caste. It is a race. There are castes WITHIN the Newar race too. I know a Bajracharya friend who was the upper caste Newar. Jyapus are lower caste Newar. Don't try to fool us by saying all Newars are of same caste.

Brahmann, You must be "Devil" not bramahan. You do not deserve that title. Any one with greater knowledge can be brahman. Kale Rai (Swami Prapannacharya) is Bramhan, where I have seen many bahun goes and kiss his legs. I respect a person with knowledge but not with their caste or race. You go see Kale Rai and get some wisdom. You are destroying the image of Bramhan. How come sajha is allowing all these hate message by this stinking person.

What year?? You might be my classmates?? I want to know more about you and let us talk personally what do you want out of this propogandas?? I love all kind of people but want to eliminate sick individuals like you....I mean legally....what do you think you are doing here posting Nazi style comments???? I think you have serious problem with every one including your own caste. I warned you that some day another bahun will finish you off. Bahun normally don't spread this kind of message?? You must be agent of those groups who promotes unrests and get advantage out of it.

Newuser dude Well, this topic should be absolutely allowed to pop up and continue in Sajha. In fact it a discussion on race relations in the political context of Nepal. In fact Nepali politicians hardly brought forward the discussions on race relations to the mainstream Nepali politics to the wide audience. Everyone knows and feels that there is a termendous problems in the matters of race relations in Nepal. Most people know that it is absolutely embarrasing for them to admit the this fact therefore the discussions really never happen. Unless we get to know the views from people belonging to different races on the issue strongly there would not be a resolution to the problem. We cannot shove the stinking dirt under the carpet just because it looks embarrasing in front of the wider croud.

I do not mean to hate Bahuns or Bahunism in Nepal. To Speak truth about Racism or Bahunism base on reality is very deep stinky. However, we must agree that Bahunism is the very serious and the main root problem of Nepal. If we observed, study records or statistics, and analyze situation of Nepal and Nepalese, We will find the root cause of the problem based on Bahunism or Racism in Nepal. If you do not believe what I say, take a moment, take time and think............

Democracy in Nepal has been more than 50 years. But Nepal is the most poorest and corrupt nation in the world record 2004. Nepalese political parties, Nepali Governments and Nepali Leaders never ever think to lift up backward Nepalese people (Janjatis) from Decades and Centuries. Why? More than 95% Bahuns and Chhetris are taking position in all Nepali political parties, Nepali Government, Authorities and Leadership. These people do corruption and organize crimes in Nepal.

You should remember, muna madan of Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Manis thulo Karmale Hunchha Jatale Hundaina! Human.
