What are the pros and cons for getting NRN card?
I need a work authorization to work for us companies remotely from Nepal?

Even nrn card would allow to keep the property that you inherited or earned while being Nepali ctzp.
What this lawyer said up there is contradiction to what is in practice today for nrn card holders . I dont think nrn ctzp would make it any different. People who received nrn ctzp were all excited that they can now keep their bank accounts and properties in Nepal.

Can NRN inherit property from their parents/relatives?
Yes as per provisions stated in the NRNA Bylaws 2066, their right to inheritance as per Nepali law is allowed. The new civil code of Nepal allows the holders of NRN Citizenship the right to inherit own and maintain property at par with other Nepali citizens.

If new nrn citizenship has not updated law it will be copy paste of nrn card on having limitation on property. Unless we see proper documents it’s hard to believe NRN citizenship will allow same right as nepali citizen regarding acquiring ancestral or buying new properties.

This is huge tho. So is Nepal govt going to confiscate properties which we had it as Nepali ctzn? When i talked to lawyers few months ago it wasnt the case.

I don’t think that is the case, Kul acharya and other are pitching that now Nepali with foreign citizenship don’t have to worry about loosing their properties. But I would really like to see what’s the Nepal govt written laws for these basic questions. Most of social media video makers are only making videos on how to get NRN nagarikta but not about what are the rights it provides.

Ajt, i think so too. There would be a big panic already if people were losing their property. This different categories of crzp is messed up concept in the 1st place. An elderly bhutani refugee told me that's what they did in Bhutan 1st. They madeb7 different tyoes of ctzp and later used that to categorize and jail or deport people.

Kul Acharya really needs to come out and tell NRNs what’s at stake if NRN citizenship is taken. I’m sure he has already received assurance from Nepal govt before taking NRN citizenship.
Also I read somewhere that they are drafting bill for NRN rights, but haven’t seen any copies of it yet

Hopefully anyone following this thread will come up with answers to all those question, or at least government shows any interest to answer these questions. But I am sure someone will bring info once they deal with sarkari karmachari with this nagarikta while buying new or transferring inheritance properties in near future.

I spent some time looking into oci card of India and was surprised to see how similar this nrn citizenship to their oci card is.

Lol, it's like taking someone's research paper and submitting as yours own after changing some words. Or in other words its like those 90s indian copy cat movies in Nepali language. It's the watered downed, copy of oci card and this kinda gives us hints how future rules will be for nrns.

Oci : over seas citizens of India , life long visa granted but not citizenship. One cant vote or get elected or accpet most govt jobs. They call it for cultural, fianancial and educational privillages. one can buy land but not agricultural land, though one can inherit. Selling property is a hassle, and has complez tax rules. Its like 30% tax and dependening on the value of property surcharges on top of that. For eg property over 5 carore is like 30 percent tax plus 37 per surcharge lol.
Nrn citizenship is 97 percent same as oci card. Even the motto cultural, social and economical rights is same as their economical, financial and educational privillages. They started in 2005 so obviously our netas copy pasted it.

Mr. Khagendra is saying basically it's nagarikta given to practice full fledge social, economic, cultural rights as par as Nepali citizen with bangsaj ko nagarikta beside political and administrative rights. Based on this video there is no any cap limits in buying or inheriting properties with NRN nagarikta from nepali citizen parents. Even to enter Nepal just need to show NRN nagarikta and foreign Passport. My assumption is NRN nagarikta will allow to get drivers license as well and no more foreign air fare fee or to enter national parks etc etc, please share your thoughts what you made out that talk session. Would like to follow up on their next session.

I think exactly as you summarized above as well. The only thing is the hassle while applying it and no one knows what future tax laws are going to be.

It would have been very nice if they can bring some responsible government officer that is more informed about NRN nagarikta to make it more valid discussion.
