My friend just decided to let 2 sub-domains to be distributed free of charge each with 2 GB of webspace at no cost. Each sub-domain will receive a ftp access and a 10GB bandwidth/month.

that would be something you should be asking him by sending an email. As far as I can guess, he should be fine with it. But just send him an email, that would be the best thing to do.
