My wife is in F1 status right now. I want to change her status from F1 to H4. Actually, she came as F2 and changed her status last year to F1.
I am going to file I-539 on Monday, the 16th. My question is: what will happen to her status once USCIS gets her application? Is she have to be in F1 till her change of status will be approved( I mean she has to join college in this fall) or she will be in change of status and she doesn't need to attend college.

I really need to know whether she needs to go college or it's not necessary to join college.

Thanks in advance.

I checked the processing time in USCIS website. The current time is March 15, 2007 which means it will take 3/4 months of time to change the status.
Does she need to be in F1 until she will be approved for change of status? or once they she will get LIN number, she doesn't need to be in F1 until she will get approved or denied letter?
Don't know.

Neptalk,
There is nothing like 'in between status' like you said. You have applied for another status, and then the day it gets approved, your status gets changed. Till then you have to maintain whatever status you are in.

It makes sense.

Just want to make sure what will happen.

Hey NepTalk, could you tell me how many days did it took your wife to receive the F1 status. I had submitted my wife application to change her status from F2 to F1 on june 6th 2007 but still haven't heard from them. how long does it take for the process to complete. Her college starts from august.
