We hear a lot about so called oppressed races in Nepal. Who are they, how are they oppressed, and by whom?

From Maoist terrorists to Congress slimes, they claim they represent the oppressed races of Nepal. The oppressed races are those who aren't educated, don't own land, and aren't politically dominant. Lets examine the reasons behind their so-called oppression using historical logic, shall we?

First, lets look at at the political domination. Then we will look into economic domination. Bhote groups have their own language and culture. Education was never part of their culture, otherwise they would have a written script to communicate and educate their young. Pahadis on the other hand had written script AND the history of learning. Education was never foreign to Pahadi, but it was to Bhotes.

Today, the same Bhotes claim to be "oppressed" because they aren't educated and, therefore, aren't politically dominant. They should question their own ancestors for not creating a culture of learning. A lot of groups don't have a learning culture. They don't needed to. Tribal groups from Australia to Africa to America were not educated. They survived just fine in the ancient times. But now in the age of knowledge, education is valued and needed. They still don't have the culture for learning. From my own experience, the bhotes in my boarding school were NEVER into studying. The chippeka keta haru always hated us Bahuns who liked to study and prepare for exams and earn good scores. We excelled and they got STUCK. Can they blame us because they were "oppressed", or they blame themselves? Their parents were rich, no doubt, in the Gorkha army and all. But their mind was still primitive. Blame themselves not us.

Now lets look at the Madheses. Terai was a malaria infested SWAMP LAND with very few people like Tharus. The Tharus never owned land. They were hunters. They hunted rats and small games. They did not know agriculture. After the swampland was cleared and Pahadis settled in Terai and owned a lot of land. Seeing their own Bihar being filled with Biharis, the Biharis started trickling into Terai. By the time they had arrived, there was no land for them to own. So how can they call themselves oppressed for being landless when 1) they were never into agriculture and 2) they migrated late, after all the lands had been taken.

Hence, it is now clear that these 2 primary "oppressed" races have no merit to whine about oppression. They should blame themselves, not others who had learning culture and were quicker.

Seems like you did not comprehend his posting or my posting. First read what Brahmann wrote and then mine , carefully and slowly, again and again if necessary. Then write your response. Will somebody please explain the custom of having Magars as pujari in certain temples or religious ceremony and not bahun pujari. What is the significance of this practice in Nepal?

Will somebody please explain the custom of having Magar pujaris and not Bahuns in certain temples or ceremonys? What is the role of Magars in Nepali society as a whole? There are Thapa Chhetri, Thapa Magar but is there Thapa Bahun ?

Priesthood is not a property of Bahuns; priest can be any other race people.

However, Bahuns are choosing and doing priesthood for centuries. Reason behind the priesthood is not hardworking job, easy money earning business, everybody easily believes and have considerable discount in Nepalese or Hindu communities.

Maybe some people follow by having test priesthood of being Hindu pundits, or some rulers of ancient time converted them and forced them to do priesthood.

yeah there is magar priest too. Bhusal magar are the from the priest lineage of magars. Bhusal magar can be thapa, rana, ale.
so as for Pun, Budha and BUdhathoki also have their own.

BTW u will find magar priest only in Sakthi ko aradhana garne mandir ma.
like manakamana, Aalam devi ko than (later magar priest was ousted by force), jaljala mai ko mandir such n such.

DO not get confused about why different priest among magars. Remind u there was 12 magarant and 16 magarant. Even magar dialect is different between these two.

All 100% problems of Nepal and Nepalese based on:

(1) Racism

(2) Corruption

(3) Crimes

(4) other

And Racism is on the very top list.

Racism seriously needs to solve before thinking about True Democracy, Freedom, Human Rights, Peace and Happiness in Nepal and Among Nepalese.

Because Racism is origin of problems of Nepal and Racism is violating all laws and Rights.

Ppl here are blaming Bahnuns for Bahunism or Bahunwaad. What is Bahunism/Bahunwaad? Isn't it aafno manche mentality. Any given chances everybody is practicing it, so why cry foul? However, i do understand it may be started by some crooked Bahun in medeival time but Nepali soceity have accepted it and practiced it as a whole, no matter of who they are. Its baseless just to blame Bahuns for this problem. Every caste/race have their own agenda in nepal. Everybody is beating their own drum instead of finding solution with holding a common ground. No caste/race is bigger than a nation. Nepali ppls identity comes through Nepal not by some bahunm, newar, kshettri magar, grg, rai or limbu.

Yes we are are so obssessed with racism, nepotism, corruption etc that we lose our focus on the root of the problems to day. I f only we were all Nepalis with one Nepali mind!!

What a bogus history. Well scripted just to show the glory of Royals. Trying to show the blue blood relationship between Royals and Kings of Rajasthans. I can say it is well scripted cuz King Mahendra never visited Alam Devi. King Birendra visited only after Astami of 2034 B.S. Why he paid sudden visit to Alam Devi? Late Crown Prince Dipendra became gravely ill and his health was deterioting day by day during 2034 B.S. He was shown to finest doctors but his health was didn't improve. As u know we nepali are lil religious. King and Queen pray for their Kul Devta as advised by Royal Priest but nothing happened. After a while Royal priest find(i dunno how) that the thought Kula Devta of Royal were infact not their Kula Devta. So after long discussion they did some yagya to find kulayan. The subh day was Ghatasthapana of year 2034 B.S. They set free a Raango with LAAL MOHAR. There was a royal letter saying ppl to let know local juridiction office where abouts of that raango. That raango left ktm valley(some military soldiers were dispatched seceretly to watch that nobody would claim it). Raango went to Alam devi ko than and stopped their thus Kula Devta of Royals were found.
There are peculiarities about Aalam Devi. There is neither roof nor idol.
About temple being unique cuz it has no roof moran writer don't know that any Kulayan ma roof hundaina baru euta lingo matra huncha ra it has wall of makai ko bot. IF anybody is from palpa and syangja they know what i am talking about. After that only royals started praying there.

Temple for the deity of Royal family likely to lack priest

PALPA, Jan 19 : Aalam Devi temple, the temple of the family deity of the Shah dynasty in Aalam VDC of Palpa district, may not have a priest to perform daily rituals in the near future, according to sources.

As per tradition, the priest attending the temple should be a chaste boy not above 14 years old. Priests in the temple for ages have been from the Rana Magar, ethnic community.

However, modern Magars, being anxious of their children?s future are reluctant to initiate them as priests in the temple. They think that doing so will spoil the future of their wards because a priest cannot attend schools.

Locals are not attracted to being a priest in the temple as there are no special facilities, benefits nor a salary or allowance, says Rishi Pandey, a local resident.

The priest has to bathe in the early morning, and perform pujas with just a thin cotton cloth covering his body. He is not allowed to leave the temple premises before one o?clock in the afternoon, explains Mohan Singha Rana, a member of the Temple Management Committee (TMC).

"In this age of science and technology every body wants his/her son to be educated, with even the members of the TMC not allowing theirs sons to be a priest," said Rana.

The legend behind how this temple came to be associated with the royal family dates to ancient times when a Thakuri king of the Chin Rangan clan from western Nepal, was on a campaign invading other principalities. As part of his army, his soldiers carried along with them, Kumari Devi, a Goddess, who had to be carried at all times and never laid on the ground.

However, the soldiers happened to lay the goddess on the ground, on the site where the temple now stands, and the Kumari was said to have vanished. One person of the Thakuri clan was left behind at the site in the hope that the Kumari would reappear. He later built a temple and employed a virgin boy as its priest.

According to the legend, the present Shah dynasty is descendent from the same Thakuri clan.

The royal family visits the temple every year to offer worship. Annually, two grand pujas are performed in the temple, once during Bada Dashain, by seven priests and once during Chaite Dashain by five priests.
