I am planning on filing for Green Card through my US citizen spouse and have some questions, maybe some experienced sajha readers can help me with my decisions:

1. Is it worth getting a lawyer? I contacted few immigration lawyer in the area and they charge anywhere from 1500-3000. Whole process looks pretty straight forward but I can't make up my mind if I should get help from lawyer.

2. My spouse doesn't make enough to sponsor me, anyone have experience of filing joint sponsorship for themselves? How do I provide proof saying that my income/job won't change once my immigration status is changed.

3. Any tips or suggestion from anyone who has gone through this process.

i filled for my green card 2 months ago and now waiting on a interview date to be scheduled. I didn't hire a lawyer but did have an hour consultation with one in tennessee, just in case. Mine was pretty simple but I am not so familiar with the " job not changing" thing and the joint sponsorship. besides that its very straight forward. good luck
